Monastery Hotel is a small hotel with 12 rooms at Strahovské nádvoří 13 in Hradčany, Prague 1, inside the courtyard of Strahov Monastery, which was founded by the Premonstratensian order in 1142.

Location

The hotel sits on the hilltop above Malá Strana, at the edge of Petřín park. The Strahov Library and the monastery buildings are about 100 metres away, the Loreta about 650 metres and Prague Castle roughly 15 minutes on foot. The nearest tram stop, Pohořelec, is about 5 minutes on foot; from there the Old Town and Wenceslas Square take 20–30 minutes by tram. The nearest metro station, Malostranská on line A (green), is about 2 km away. Václav Havel Airport is around 13–14 km by road.

The property

Rooms have private bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, minibars and electric kettles, and some have sofa beds. Loft rooms on the third floor have low ceilings and are reached by open stairs; top-floor family rooms have showers rather than baths. A buffet breakfast, included in the rate, is served from 07:00 to 10:30, and in warmer months it can be taken on the terrace. Free Wi-Fi covers the building. Limited on-site parking is available for a daily fee.

Hotel is in the most beautiful grounds, surrounded in history. Hotel rooms are clean, spacious, and have everything you need. Beds are comfy, Breakfast was great, lots to chose from. Staff are very helpful and polite. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill, we enjoyed the walk each day into the centre of Prague, which was beautiful. We thought the hotel was situated perfectly, with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

What could be improved: We loved everything about the hotel. Personally for me, the room was way too hot during the night and woke me up. My husband thought it was a very comfortable heat and did not wake him.

reception staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Room had beautiful views of the city and the monastery. The lady in the restaurant was lovely, and also so helpful. No complaints at all. Fantastic break away.

This is a lovely hotel. We stayed here very last minute as our flight home had been cancelled and the next available flight was 3 days later! The room was very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was very nice and plentiful. The location is perfect for the monastery area, the castle and the Petrin Tower. It's a downhill walk to Charles Bridge and the other side of the river and then up hill all the way back but you can either get your steps in or pay a small amount to get a tram back!

What could be improved: Nothing.
