Modern Apartment in a Picturesque 15th-Century Building Overview
You know what’s wild about this place? You’re literally staying in a building that’s been around since before Columbus sailed to America, but inside it feels like a sleek Scandinavian design magazine. I mean, the contrast is pretty incredible – you’ll walk past these massive stone walls and medieval doorways, then step into an apartment with clean lines, modern lighting, and all the tech you actually need.
The location in Pohořelec is honestly one of Prague’s best-kept secrets. Most tourists get stuck down in Old Town fighting crowds, but up here you’re in this quiet, almost village-like square that locals actually use. There’s this amazing view down toward the city center, and Prague Castle is literally a five-minute walk – though it’s uphill both ways, just so you know. The tram stop right on the square makes getting around super easy, and honestly, riding tram 22 from here gives you some of the best views of the city you’ll get without paying for a tour. The neighborhood has this authentic residential feel where you’ll see people walking their dogs and kids playing in the square, not just tour groups with selfie sticks.
What really got me about the apartment itself was how they managed to preserve the character without making you feel like you’re camping in a museum. The ceilings are high – really high – and you can see some of the original architectural details, but the kitchen actually works properly and the wifi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes like in some of these historic conversions. The bathroom is compact but well-designed, and the shower has proper water pressure, which isn’t always a given in old buildings. One thing to note: if you’re a light sleeper, the tram does run pretty regularly during the day, but it’s more of a gentle rumble than anything jarring, and it stops around midnight. The building itself is surprisingly quiet considering it’s right on the square – those thick medieval walls actually do their job. Check-in was smooth, though you’ll want to confirm the exact process since it’s an apartment rental rather than a traditional hotel setup. Parking can be tricky in this area if you’re driving, but honestly, you won’t need a car here anyway. The whole castle district is walkable, and you’re close enough to interesting neighborhoods like Malá Strana that you can explore on foot without feeling like you’re hiking across the city.

The apartment was wonderful! It was spacious, updated, quiet and clean! The location was great, walking to the castle and cathedral was a breeze and just a short 15 minute ride to old town. The beds were comfortable, the shower was wonderful and it had all the amenities you could possibly need. 10/10 recommend staying here

This accommodation is in a very good place, a few minutes from the Prague Castle and the Little Quarter. For trips to the centre, a tram stop is not far. A big advantage of this apartment is that you are renting the whole house.
On arrival, the apartment was clean and tidy and communication with the owner was very quick and efficient.
Some reviewers complained about the noise from the street but it’s not so bad. With the windows closed you only hear the trams and there's virtually no car traffic at night. We were lucky and didn't have to sleep with the windows open so in hot weather the noise might be worse. But even with the windows open it's nothing against the all-night noise we experienced in the centre of Prague.
What could be improved: There are only a few small things that could be improved:
– it would be good to put net curtains in the ground floor window otherwise the curtains need to be drawn the whole day
– similarly, curtains were missing in two of the first-floor windows. As there are no close buildings opposite the street, it wasn’t such a big issue but I would feel better with curtains
– Wi-Fi signal on the first floor could be stronger
These are only improvement suggestions and definitely didn’t spoil the overall good experience.Hisham from United Kingdom – 28 June 2023 (8/10)
Great apartment and location.
What could be improved: Rooms were extremely hot, need air conditioningMichail from Greece – 24 June 2023 (9/10)
Good location. Good facilities. Easy to get to. Prague is a worth visiting city.
What could be improved: Parking your car is a disaster in Prague. Visitors are treated as if they are punished for driving there.Faroek from Netherlands – 9 May 2023 (9/10)
The apartment was neat and tidy. Very spacious and it has a nice location to start walking or take public transport to the city.
The newly renovated bathroom has floor heating which is amazing!
What could be improved: When you want to connect your own audio device to the speaker, taking an audio jack for aux-in is recommended.
The bedroom upstairs, the small window doesn't have a curtain, we used some books to make the room more dark for sleeping.Dave from Ireland – 12 December 2022 (8/10)
Really nice property that met our needs very well. Terrific location with great access to public transport (the tram) to Prague city centre. Very accommodating owner. Would recommend.

Amazing location, well connected, great building, quite surroundings, host responsive.
What could be improved: A microwave would be helpful. Although it was the beginning of the summer, no heating in the house which was cold in the evenings and night. Host had no clue about how to turn the heating.
