Hotel Description
So I stumbled onto Miss Sophie’s New Town & Wellness during what was honestly a pretty frantic Prague booking situation – you know how it goes when you wait too long and everything decent is either booked or crazy expensive. But honestly? This turned out to be one of those happy accidents that makes you feel smug about your travel instincts.
The location on Melounova is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Prague rather than just visiting it. You’re in New Town (Nové Město for the locals), which means you can walk to Wenceslas Square in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your door. I mean, there’s this great little bakery two blocks down that does these incredible koláče pastries – the kind of place where the woman behind the counter will remember your order by day three. The tram connections are solid too, though honestly, I ended up walking most places because Prague’s just that kind of city where you turn a corner and suddenly you’re somewhere completely magical.
What really got me about this place was how they’ve managed to nail that boutique hotel vibe without feeling pretentious about it. The wellness center – and I’m usually pretty skeptical about hotel spas – actually delivers. There’s this eucalyptus steam thing happening that hits just right after you’ve been tramping around cobblestones all day. The rooms have this clean, minimalist thing going on that somehow feels cozy rather than sterile (probably the lighting, which is warm and actually adjustable). And you know what? The beds are properly firm, not that squishy hotel nonsense that leaves you feeling like you wrestled a marshmallow all night. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no upselling, no weird deposit drama, just “here’s your key, the elevator’s temperamental but charming, breakfast is until 10:30.”
The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you factor in the little things that actually matter. Like how the shower pressure is legitimately excellent (rare in older European buildings), and how the staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood rather than just rattling off TripAdvisor highlights. One morning I asked about finding a good spot to watch the sunrise over the city, and instead of some generic tourist viewpoint, they sent me to this little park on Petřin Hill that locals use for their morning runs. It’s those kinds of touches that bump a perfectly good hotel into something you’d actually recommend to friends. The whole experience just feels… real, I guess? Like you’re staying somewhere that exists for more than just collecting tourist dollars.

The room was beautiful and had a coffee machine, tea kettle and a stocked mini fridge. The hotel is located close to several tram stops and a train station. The staff were nice and accommodating.

A very warm welcome from the staff and complementary prosecco on arrival. Nice touch 👌
What could be improved: No breakfast teabags fruit tea or earl grey only.
A little noisy at night if your room was front facing. Ear plugs are essentialMilena from Austria – 5 January 2025 (9/10)
Charming rooms and very kind staff. There were loads of complimentary items such as drinks and food in the fridge and upon arrival I was offered a glass of champagne as a welcome gift 🙂 The beds were also extremely comfortable! The hotel is about 15 minutes from the main railway station and it doesn't take long to reach the old town either. I stayed alone as a solo female traveler and felt very safe in the area.
What could be improved: The walls are a bit thin, so unfortunately I heard my neighbors whenever they played music or talked loudly and also each time someone took the elevator.Annalise from Malta – 2 January 2025 (9/10)
The guest house is in a good location. Despite many areas that one can stay in prague, we liked the location. We walked to many places, however it's in a location that you can catch the metro/bus.
The room has tasteful decor and equipped with kettle and coffee machine!
