Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Mezzanine Beds,” I wasn’t sure what to expect. But this little place on Radlická really surprised me in the best way. It’s one of those spots that doesn’t try to be fancy, just gets the fundamentals right, and you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

The location is actually pretty clever. You’re far enough from the tourist chaos to get a decent night’s sleep (and I mean really decent – those mezzanine setups are way more comfortable than they sound), but close enough that you can walk to Wenceslas Square in about ten minutes if you’re feeling energetic. The Radlická area has this authentic Prague vibe that most visitors never see – there’s a great little hospoda around the corner where locals actually drink, and the morning bakery smell that drifts through the streets is something you just can’t get in the city center. The offsite parking situation might sound like a hassle, but honestly, it’s a godsend in Prague where parking downtown costs more than your room. They’ve got it sorted with a proper lot that’s maybe a two-minute walk away.

What really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to care about helping you figure out Prague, not just selling you overpriced tours. The woman at reception (I think her name was Jana) gave me these specific tram directions that saved me probably an hour of wandering around like a confused tourist. And the rooms themselves – well, they’re not Instagram-worthy, but everything works. The mezzanine beds are surprisingly spacious, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and there’s this nice quiet courtyard where you can actually have your morning coffee without buses rumbling past. I stayed there during a busy weekend in September, and while I could hear some street noise during the day, nights were properly quiet. The whole place has this relaxed, unpretentious energy that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere real, not some sanitized hotel bubble. Plus, you’re close to some of the best value restaurants in the city – that stretch of Radlická has these family-run places where a proper Czech meal costs less than a sandwich in Old Town.
