Honestly, MeetMe23 caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first walk up to Washingtonova 23, you’re not exactly expecting much from what looks like a pretty standard building in Prague’s New Town. But step inside and you realize someone actually thought about what travelers need, not just what looks good in photos.

The thing about this place is its location – you’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but tucked away enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. I stayed here during shoulder season and could walk to the main train station in maybe ten minutes, which saved me a fortune on taxis. The Old Town is right there too, though honestly, after a day of wandering those cobblestones, you’ll appreciate coming back to a neighborhood where locals actually live and work. There’s this great little bakery just around the corner that opens ridiculously early – perfect if you’re dealing with jet lag and need real coffee at 6 AM.

What struck me most about MeetMe23 was how they nailed the details without trying to be fancy about it. The rooms are clean and well-thought-out (I mean, actual bedside outlets – revolutionary, right?), and the staff genuinely seems to know Prague beyond just the tourist highlights. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the metro – he suggested which tram to take and mentioned this wine bar that locals frequent. That 9-point rating makes sense when you experience it firsthand. Sure, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or a rooftop pool, but everything works properly and feels thoughtfully maintained. The shower pressure was actually decent, the Wi-Fi didn’t cut out every five minutes, and – this might sound weird – but the hallways didn’t have that musty hotel carpet smell that haunts so many European properties. Check-in was smooth even though I arrived kind of late, and they had solid recommendations for everything from late-night eats to where to catch the best sunset views over the city. You know what really sold me though? The breakfast wasn’t trying to be everything to everyone – just good coffee, fresh bread, and local touches that reminded you where you were without being gimmicky about it.
