Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw this place listed as “200Mb WIFI, Supermarket On-site, 12min City Center,” I thought it was going to be some soulless business hotel trying too hard to sound practical. But you know what? Sometimes practical is exactly what you need, and this three-star gem in Prague’s Smíchov district actually gets it right.

The location on Hlaváčkova is sort of perfect if you think about it – you’re far enough from the tourist chaos of Old Town to feel like you’re staying where actual Praguers live, but close enough that you can hop on tram 12 or 20 and be at Wenceslas Square in about twelve minutes (they’re not lying about that). The neighborhood has this lived-in feel that I really appreciated, especially in the mornings when you’d see locals heading to work with their coffee cups and dogs. There’s actually a decent Vietnamese restaurant two blocks down that serves pho until late – discovered that on my second night when I was too tired to venture into the center.

Now about that on-site supermarket – it’s basically a well-stocked convenience store, but honestly, it saved me multiple times. Decent Czech beer selection, fresh bread in the mornings, and all the random stuff you realize you forgot to pack. The wifi really is fast enough to work from your room without wanting to throw your laptop out the window, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable without trying to be Instagram-worthy – think IKEA meets Eastern European efficiency, but in a good way. My room faced the courtyard, so it was pretty quiet even though you’re still in the city. The shower actually had proper water pressure, and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a marshmallow all night.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to actually know the area – when I asked about getting to Kampa Island without dealing with the crowds on Charles Bridge, the front desk guy gave me this route through Petřin Hill that was absolutely perfect. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The whole place has this unpretentious vibe that I found refreshing after dealing with some of the stuffier hotels in Prague’s center where they act like they’re doing you a favor by taking your money. Sure, you won’t find a spa or a rooftop bar here, but sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well – comfortable bed, reliable internet, helpful staff, and easy access to everything Prague has to offer without paying tourist-trap prices. That 8.9 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here.

  Great position, the apartment is cozy and clean, the host provides the guest with all the essentials (pads, hairdryer and diffuser, shampoo and bodywash, cleaning products, 1 big towel per guest etc.), the host is available for any questions and requests (they let us check in an hour early). Overall a great place

  The location was perfectly fine, the tram gets you to the city center in ~16 min. The bathroom was great and very modern. It is also very convenient to have the Lidl grocery store right around the corner.
  
  What could be improved: There were two rather noisy constructions sites just outside the window. The mattress was also not the greatest in the world, but for a short stay alright. The desk is probably too skinny for 2 people.
