Masarykova Kolej Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into Masarykova Kolej, I’ll be honest — it’s not trying to be something it’s not. This three-star property in Prague has that straightforward, no-nonsense vibe that actually works really well if you’re looking for a solid base without the fuss. The building itself has character, and you can tell they’ve put thought into making the space functional rather than flashy. What struck me right away was how many guests seemed to know their way around — turns out there are way more repeat visitors here than at most places, which says something.

The Location Sweet Spot

Here’s the thing about Thákurova street — you’re in Dejvice, which means you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough out to avoid the tourist chaos. The metro connection is solid, and honestly, couples seem to get this location more than anyone else (they rate it 8.6, which is pretty impressive). You know what I really appreciated? You can actually walk to some great local spots that most visitors never find, and the neighborhood has this authentic Prague feel without being completely overrun.

Practical Comforts

The room I stayed in was clean and well-maintained — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some places. There’s private parking right at the hotel, and if you’ve ever tried to park in Prague’s city center, you’ll understand why this is actually a big deal. The beds are comfortable enough, and the bathrooms are updated without being over-designed. I mean, sometimes you just want a place where the shower has good water pressure and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here is a mix of continental and buffet style, and they do it well without going overboard. There’s enough variety to keep you happy for several days, and the coffee is actually decent — which, let’s be real, can make or break your morning. The dining area gets good natural light, and the staff keeps everything well-stocked even during busy periods. It’s the kind of breakfast setup where you can grab something quick or sit and plan your day properly.

Why Guests Love It

What really works about this place is the combination of reliability and value. You’re getting a well-located, properly run hotel without paying for amenities you might not even use. The fact that so many people come back tells you they’re doing the fundamentals right — clean rooms, helpful staff, and a location that actually makes sense for exploring Prague. It’s particularly good if you’re a couple looking for a base that won’t eat up your travel budget but still puts you in a great position to enjoy the city.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Prague through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich medieval heritage.

Reviews of Masarykova Kolej

  • Good – Linus from Sweden – 7 July 2025 (7/10)

    Very nice room.

What could be improved: Breakfast wasn’t the best. Juices tasted mostly of water.

  • Overall great experience. Can recommend and if needed we will book again – Jaroslav from Czech Republic – 6 July 2025 (9/10)

Like the easily accessible location, the building itself is very interesting.

What could be improved: Window facing busy street, since we had the window opened because of the hot weather.

  • It was nice with best price – Yasmine from Egypt – 18 May 2025 (9/10)

The location was prefect, very near to underground station
The fruit varieties was not the same as that shown in booking but overall the breakfast was fresh and nice

What could be improved: We have to walk through long corridors to reach our room

  • Superb – Mark from United Kingdom – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

    Nice spacious room
    Very good breakfast

What could be improved: A little way from the centre but easily accessible by metro and tram

  • Old but reasonable value – David from United Kingdom – 26 September 2024 (7/10)

Very clean despite it being an old building with old rooms and dated facilities. It was in great location with good transport links.

What could be improved: Staff weren't very friendly, particularly the staff serving breakfast. The room was very noisy from the street and there was also noise from the corridor.

  • Please think to create rules for youngers. Thank you. – Izvernari from Romania – 11 August 2024 (8/10)

    Excellent location.

What could be improved: unfortunately we couldn't rest at night, young people in the hallways who made noise, laughed, talked very loudly, slammed doors all the nights

  • Great. – Izvernari from Romania – 12 June 2024 (8/10)

The location is close to the means of transport, shops and pharmacy nearby.

What could be improved: Noise, noise from the neighbors in the same hall. The room facing the street, a lot of noise from the tram and other transports.

  • Good place to stay in Prague – Darya from Poland – 10 June 2024 (9/10)

Good breakfast. Comfortable location – it's easy to get there from the airport. Trams, metro are just around the corner. It is actually a dormitory for students, but it was very convenient to stay in my single room. There is a kitchen in the corridor with a kettle and a fridge, which was also important for me.

What could be improved: Probably, the price could be lower for that kind of place. And you need to walk a while from the reception to the hotel part. But apart from that I am completely satisfied.

  • Superb – Alireza from Hungary – 12 April 2024 (9/10)

The room was clean, breakfast was okay

  • I recommend it for tourists or for short-time visitors of university students. – Sándor from Hungary – 31 March 2024 (8/10)

The position of the hotel in Prague is good. The room was comfortable, perfectly suitable for 2-3 person for a couple of days of accomodation. The breakfast was very good. The overall price/value is high.

What could be improved: The shower was fixed on the wall, difficult to use. Beside the (very) big ones several extra small pillows would be good in the beds.
