Malostranská Residence Overview

You know what struck me first about Malostranská Residence? It’s actually *on* the square – like, right there where tourists are taking photos of the baroque buildings and street musicians are playing. I mean, you’d think that would be a nightmare for noise, but honestly, the windows are thick enough that you barely hear anything once you’re inside. Plus, there’s something pretty magical about opening your curtains in the morning and seeing that classic Prague architecture instead of some random side street.

The building itself is one of those perfectly restored 16th-century places that somehow manages to feel historical without being stuffy. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully updated” – you’ve got original wooden beams and period details, but also proper heating and bathrooms that actually work (trust me, this isn’t always a given in Prague’s old town). The staff really knows their stuff too, and I don’t just mean the usual tourist recommendations. When I asked about getting to Petřin Hill for sunrise photos, the front desk guy told me about this little side path that cuts through Kampa Island – saved me probably twenty minutes of walking around the crowded main routes.

What really sets this place apart, though, is the location situation. You’re literally a three-minute walk to Charles Bridge, but more importantly, you’re right in Lesser Town where the actual good restaurants are. Forget the touristy spots around Old Town Square – you can stumble to U Fleku for proper Czech beer or hit up some of those tiny wine bars tucked into Nerudova Street. And here’s the thing nobody tells you about staying in Malá Strana: the early morning walks are incredible. Before 8 AM, you practically have those cobblestone streets to yourself, especially in shoulder season. The whole area feels like a movie set, but without the crowds. Parking is… well, it’s Prague, so don’t expect miracles, but they do have arrangements with a garage about five minutes away, and honestly, you won’t need a car anyway. The tram stop at Malostranské náměstí connects you to basically everywhere, and there’s something satisfying about catching the 22 tram right outside your hotel when other tourists are still figuring out the metro system. That 9.4 rating makes sense when you experience the whole package – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but everything just… works.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Prague through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich medieval heritage.

Reviews of Malostranská Residence

  • Rivka from Israel – 1 December 2024 (10/10)

Great location, and a beautiful room

  • Maria from Estonia – 24 March 2025 (10/10)

A great location with everything you need nearby. The public transport stop is right in front of the entrance, and all landmarks are within walking distance. The apartment has everything needed for a comfortable stay. It’s quiet despite being close to Charles Bridge. Everything was great, we would stay here again.

What could be improved: There were no downsides.

  • John from United States – 23 March 2025 (10/10)

Location was superb! On the slightly quieter side of Charles Bridge, but only two blocks from the bridge. We stayed in a junior suite which was bigger than I expected from pictures, with beautiful woodwork and high ceilings. Great view of St. Nicholas church and castle. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I was stunned at how nice it was for the price! It even had a washing machine, which was super convenient for us.

What could be improved: The only negative was the low water pressure in the shower, but I find that is pretty common in many of the places I have traveled.

  • Matthew from United Kingdom – 21 March 2025 (10/10)

Apartments were spotless, in a fantastic location. The tramstop was right outside. Staff very friendly. We will be returning.

  • Anabela from Portugal – 9 March 2025 (10/10)

We liked everything. The location, the view from the room, very well equipped kitchen, very friendly and helpful staff. It was a wonderful stay.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

    location and atmosphere

  • Maria from United Kingdom – 25 February 2025 (10/10)

The suite is absolutely amazing. Exceeded our expectations. Every room very spacious, access to heat controls, huge tv, kitchen was huge, all utencils catered for, location absolutely spot on with tram stops right outside the door, Charles bridge right over your shoulder. There was nothing we did not like. Because there is a least 4 of us, we always stay in the best accommodation and so far, this has been the top place to stay.

    What could be improved: Leaving!

  • Mendy from Germany – 18 February 2025 (10/10)

Prime location! Apartment was clean, spacious, and included a full kitchen. Staff was friendly and very helpful, assisted us in arranging transportation to and from the hotel to airport.

What could be improved: Likely our fault but would’ve liked a sign stating we did not wish to have housekeeping every day.

  • Jessica from Germany – 13 February 2025 (10/10)

The location and decor was amazing. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. Everything was extremely clean, modern, well styled, and amazing to look at. I loved going down the glass elevator and seeing every floor.

What could be improved: The bed was a little hard for me, but that's the only thing I could come up with. I loved everything about my stay here
