Majestic Square View Residence

Prague, Czech Republic
60 Vinohradská, Prague, 130 00, Czech Republic

Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Majestic Square View Residence on Vinohradská – the name sounds a bit pretentious, doesn’t it? But you know what, sometimes these places surprise you. This 4-star spot actually delivers on that view promise, and I mean really delivers. The building sits perfectly positioned where you can catch glimpses of the city spreading out below, especially if you snag one of the upper floors.

What struck me right away was how quiet it gets here, which is saying something for Prague. Vinohradská can be busy during the day with trams rumbling by, but the hotel’s set back just enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from the street. The neighborhood itself is pretty fantastic – you’re in Vinohrady, which locals will tell you is where they’d actually want to live if they could afford it. There’s this great little kavárna about two blocks down that does proper Czech coffee, not the tourist stuff, and honestly the walk there in the morning became part of my routine. The nearby Náměstí Míru is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and that’s where you’ll find the real Prague happening – people walking their dogs, kids playing, actual life going on.

Inside, the place feels more like a well-appointed apartment building than a typical hotel, which I actually preferred. The lobby doesn’t try too hard to impress you with marble and chandeliers (thank god), but everything’s clean and thoughtfully done. Check-in was refreshingly normal – no upselling, no forced conversation about restaurant reservations. The staff seem to get that travelers are usually tired and just want their keys. My room had this interesting mix of modern touches with some traditional Czech elements that didn’t feel forced or theme-park-ish. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, and I mean actually spacious, not “European hotel spacious” where you’re doing yoga moves to shower. One small thing that mattered more than I thought it would – the windows actually open, which is rare these days, and on those warm Prague evenings in late spring and summer, that cross-breeze makes all the difference. The Wi-Fi worked everywhere, parking was straightforward if you’re driving (though honestly, you don’t need a car in this location), and the whole place just felt… comfortable. Not trying to be the fanciest spot in Prague, just trying to be really good at what it does. That 9.3 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s the kind of place where everything works like it should, the location lets you feel like you’re living in Prague rather than just visiting it, and you leave thinking you’d definitely book it again.

Early hotels booking in Prague is essential during major events like the Prague Spring Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned classical music scene and Gothic architecture.

The apartment was big enough for a family of six. The apartment is located in the second district, which is an upmarket area with lots of coffee shops and small, boutique shops. It was about 30 minutes walking to Charles Bridge. There was a metro station downstairs that went directly to the centre. Downstairs from the apartment was a convenience store and some small fast food places. It was a very nice flat and even had a football table, which was fun.

What could be improved: It seemed that other apartments in the stairwell all belonged the same group, thus all were rented apartments. This was fine, but people were constantly going in and out.

What could be improved: Only very slow and unstable Internet. Impossible to work from home.
