You know what struck me first about the Majestic Plaza Hotel Prague? It’s actually tucked right into the heart of New Town on Štěpánská Street, which honestly feels like you’re staying in the real Prague rather than some touristy bubble. I mean, you walk out the front door and you’re literally surrounded by locals heading to work, authentic pubs, and those little corner shops that sell everything from newspapers to surprisingly good coffee.

The hotel itself has this solid, dependable feel – it’s a proper 4-star place that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The lobby’s got that classic European hotel vibe with marble floors that echo just enough to make you feel important, but not so much that you’re tiptoeing around at night. What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the castle without fighting tourist crowds, the desk clerk gave me this route through Petřin Park that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are well… they’re what you’d expect from a place with an 8.7 rating, which is honestly pretty solid for Prague. Clean, comfortable beds (and I’m picky about mattresses), decent WiFi that actually works for video calls, and those thick curtains that block out the morning light when you’ve had one too many Pilsners the night before.

Here’s the thing though – location is everything with this place, and Štěpánská Street is kind of perfect. You’re maybe a 5-minute walk to Wenceslas Square if you want the big tourist stuff, but you’re also right near Národní Street where locals actually hang out. There’s this incredible traditional restaurant called U Fleků literally around the corner that’s been brewing beer since 1499 – I’m talking about a place where you’ll hear more Czech than English, which is rare in central Prague these days. The tram connections are fantastic too; line 3 or 9 will get you pretty much anywhere you want to go, and honestly, Prague’s public transport puts most cities to shame. Parking can be a bit of a headache around here (like most of central Prague), but the hotel can arrange something if you’re driving. I’d say skip the car though – walking around this area is half the fun, and you’ll stumble across those hidden courtyards and tiny galleries that make Prague special. The noise level is surprisingly manageable considering you’re in the center of things, though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe mention it when booking since some rooms face the busier street side.
