Máchova Overview
You know what struck me first about Hotel Máchova? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street that most tourists never find, even though you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Old Town Square. I mean, Máchova street feels almost residential – there’s this lovely tree-lined stretch where you’ll see locals walking their dogs in the morning, and honestly, it’s such a relief after dealing with the crowds around Wenceslas Square all day. The building itself has that classic Prague charm without trying too hard – none of that over-the-top baroque stuff, just solid, understated elegance that actually feels authentic.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely know Prague, not just the tourist version. The guy at reception (I think his name was Pavel?) gave me this route to Petřin Hill that avoided all the main streets, and I ended up discovering this little café near Kampa Island that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent-sized bathrooms, though the shower pressure could be better (but honestly, that’s pretty standard for older Prague buildings). The WiFi actually works, which isn’t always a given in this city, and there’s something satisfying about opening your window in the morning to hear the trams rumbling down Újezd street instead of tour groups chattering.
Here’s the thing though – and this might matter depending on when you visit – the neighborhood gets properly quiet after 9 PM, which is either perfect if you want to crash early after walking all day, or potentially boring if you’re looking to stumble back from a late night in the beer halls. But I actually loved having that peaceful base to return to, especially during summer when the city center stays chaotic until well past midnight. The location is sneaky good too – you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters (Petřin Park, the castle, Charles Bridge), but far enough from Pařížská street that you won’t be paying tourist prices for everything. Plus there’s a decent tram connection right there if your feet give out, and I noticed they have some kind of arrangement for parking, which is basically a miracle in this part of Prague. For the price point and that 8.5 rating, it makes total sense – it’s one of those places that doesn’t oversell itself but delivers exactly what you need.

Reviews of Máchova
All great! Location, staff, room and breakfast! Highly recommended. – Zuzana from United Kingdom – 26 July 2025 (10/10)
The location is excellent, with easy access to public transport and within walking distance to the city center. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. Our room was well-presented, a great size, and very clean. The coffee machine and mini fridge were fantastic additions! Breakfast offered a good selection, and we really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely not hesitate to come back.

A pleasant hotel situated in a nicer area of Prague. – T from Czech Republic – 7 July 2025 (9/10)
A convenient hotel with good nearby travel connections situated in one of the nicer areas of Prague. Plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby too. My room was small but adequate, with a comfortable bed, recently renovated bathroom and excellent air-conditioning that was very useful due to the heatwave. A good selection of hot and cold food and drinks at breakfast. I found all the staff welcoming, pleasant and attentive. I had two stays in quick succession here before and after a long-weekend break in the UK. My related special requests were honoured.
What could be improved: Nothing really, everything was as expected for this type of hotel.Very good – Eglė from Lithuania – 30 June 2025 (8/10)
Very good breakfast, excellent location, the hotel had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
What could be improved: It would have been great if AC could be available in every room.Exceptional – Cezary from Poland – 25 June 2025 (10/10)
First of all we want to thank the great staff – especially Valeria who was very helpful and professional. She is a person who makes you want to come back to the place. About other things: room, parking and breakfast – everything was clean, comfortable and perfectly planned.
Clean, comfy witth a great breakfast included in the price and not too far from the main town centre! – Darren from United Kingdom – 22 June 2025 (8/10)
I loved how clean it was,the friendliness of the staff and my bed nice and comfy!:-)
What could be improved: The Door to my room
was quite Tricky to unlock at first(it has quite an old style lock to it)and I couldn’t get it to open properly at first so had to ask for help from the receptionist who showed me,as I Turned the key like any normal lock but I Just had to hold the door knob with one hand, and sort of Turn the key that little bit extra at the same time, and then it opens!(but this is just a very Minor criticism)as it was all fine after that!:-)Exceptional – Leonardo from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 10 June 2025 (10/10)
Everything was great!
Superb – Jan from Slovakia – 1 June 2025 (9/10)
Good value, clean, fine breakfast.

What could be improved: The parking on the street is allowed only for citizens. The hotel provided a parking, but it is quite far away from hotel.
