Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Luxury Modern Designed Oldtown Apartment” I rolled my eyes a bit at the name, but this place on Bílkova actually delivers on what it promises. You’re literally tucked into one of those narrow cobblestone streets that feels like a movie set, except you know, people actually live here and there’s a decent Vietnamese pho place around the corner that locals hit up after work.

The apartment itself is sort of this perfect middle ground between having your own space and getting that authentic Prague experience. I mean, you can hear the occasional tram rumbling by in the early morning, but honestly? It’s kind of charming after the first night. The modern touches work surprisingly well with the old building character – they didn’t go overboard trying to make everything sleek and soulless. There’s this great natural light that comes through in the afternoons, and the kitchen actually has everything you need if you grab groceries from the Tesco down on Národní (though fair warning, Czech grocery store checkout lines move at their own pace). What really got me was how quiet it becomes once the day-trippers head back to their hotels around 5 PM. Suddenly you’re just… part of the neighborhood, you know?

The location thing is tricky to explain without sounding like every other travel write-up, but here’s what actually matters – you can walk to the castle in about 15 minutes if you take the back route through Kampa Island (way prettier than the main tourist drag), and you’re close enough to the Jewish Quarter that you can pop over for dinner without planning your whole evening around it. Parking is basically impossible unless you pay for a garage, but honestly, you won’t need a car anyway. The 22 tram stops right there on Národní and takes you pretty much anywhere you’d want to go. I spent most evenings just wandering the side streets around Bílkova – there’s this whole network of tiny passages and courtyards that you’d never find if you were staying out in New Town or whatever. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the morning bread smell from the bakeries in this area is something else entirely. It’s one of those details that makes you feel like you’re actually experiencing Prague instead of just checking it off a list.

  The location of the appartment was excellent, within a short walk of most of the Old Town and the river. It was very homely and had everything that suited our needs.
  
  What could be improved: There was a little noise disturbance from the rear of the property with bass music going on past midnight on Friday and Saturday night, but this was only just audible and merely a minor inconvenience.
