Little King Hotel U Malvaze

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Anenská 185/7, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

Honestly, I walked past Little King Hotel U Malvaze three times before I actually found it – which, looking back, was kind of perfect. Tucked away on Anenská street (that’s the tiny cobblestone one that curves behind the Jewish Quarter), this 4-star gem sits exactly where you want to be without screaming “tourist hotel” from every window. You know that sweet spot where you’re close enough to Old Town Square that you can hear the hourly chimes from the Astronomical Clock, but far enough that you’re not dodging selfie sticks every time you step outside? That’s this place.

The building itself has this understated elegance – I mean, we’re talking about a converted historical building here, so there are those thick stone walls that keep everything blissfully quiet and original wooden beams that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed Prague apartment rather than a hotel. What really got me was the attention to small things that actually matter when you’re traveling. The shower pressure is fantastic (seriously, after walking around Prague’s hills all day, this matters), and they’ve somehow managed to fit proper-sized bathrooms into what I’m guessing were much smaller original spaces. The staff at reception knew exactly which tram to catch to get to Wenceslas Square without the tourist markup restaurants, and when I mentioned I was interested in that tiny jazz club everyone talks about – U Malého Glena – they not only knew it but called ahead to see if there were any good shows that week.

Location-wise, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Spanish Synagogue and maybe eight minutes from getting completely lost in the maze of streets around Franz Kafka’s birthplace (in the best possible way). I loved that I could grab proper Czech coffee from that little place on Pařížská street each morning, then wander back through different routes every day and still discover something new. The only thing I’d mention – and this is more of an observation than a complaint – is that if you’re the type who needs to drive everywhere, parking around here is… well, let’s just say Prague’s Old Town wasn’t designed with rental cars in mind. But honestly, once you’re settled in at Little King, you won’t want to leave this part of the city anyway. There’s something about staying somewhere that feels like a local secret while still having all the comfort and service you want after a long day of exploring. That 9-rating it’s got? Yeah, I get it completely.
