Lindner Hotel Prague Castle, part of JdV by Hyatt Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Lindner Hotel Prague Castle, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s tucked away on Strahovska Street, which honestly feels more residential than touristy, but that actually turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Prague Castle (I mean, it’s right there in the name), but you escape all the tourist chaos that swarms around the main castle entrances.

The location is sort of perfect if you think about it. You’ve got the Strahov Monastery practically next door – and I’m talking about the one with that incredible baroque library that looks like something out of Beauty and the Beast. Most people don’t realize you can walk through the monastery grounds to get different castle views without fighting through the crowds on the main paths. The hotel staff actually clued me into this, which was refreshing because they clearly know the neighborhood beyond just pointing tourists toward Wenceslas Square. There’s also this little-known fact that Petřín Tower (Prague’s mini Eiffel Tower) is basically a pleasant 15-minute stroll through the park from here, and the morning light hitting the city from up there is just… well, you get some incredible photos.

What really won me over was how the place feels once you’re inside. The rooms have this modern Czech design thing going on – clean lines but warm wood touches that don’t feel sterile like some chain hotels. The beds are actually comfortable (you know how hotel beds can be a total gamble), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which honestly became my daily highlight after walking around Prague’s cobblestones all day. I stayed on the fourth floor and could see castle spires from my window, though I should mention the lower floors face more toward the residential buildings – not necessarily a dealbreaker, just something to ask about when booking. The whole place runs pretty quietly too, which surprised me given how close you are to the castle area. I guess being tucked into that residential pocket really does shield you from the tour group noise.

Check-in was smooth – the front desk staff spoke excellent English and seemed genuinely interested in helping rather than just going through the motions. They’ve got parking on-site too, which is basically gold in Prague if you’re driving. I mean, trying to park near the castle during peak season is like some kind of medieval torture. The 8.7 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but everything works well and the location gives you this perfect balance of being close to major sights while feeling like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually recommend. You end up saving time and energy that you’d otherwise spend navigating crowded trams or walking from more centrally located hotels, and sometimes that’s exactly what makes a trip memorable.

  • Neil from United Kingdom – 17 July 2024 (9/10)

The location of the hotel is perfect away from the main centre and so a lot more quiet and reserved.

What could be improved: The hotel could have better managed the dignitaries who stayed, they took the entire lobby up and were very much taken by their own importance.

The lack of food on a Sunday evening was not great!

  • Yuvraj from United Kingdom – 3 June 2024 (9/10)

    Nice place
    Clean
    Very friendly staff
    Nice buffet breakfast

What could be improved: Toilet oddly placed
Toilet brush didn’t come out of holder
Evening staff was one receptionist and was faaaar too busy, so long wait and only one card key per room
Some whirry noises in rooms at night
