Koruna Hotel

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Opatovicka 16, Prague, 11000, Czech Republic

Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Koruna Hotel on Opatovická Street, you immediately get that “local gem” feeling — you know, the kind of place that feels authentically Czech rather than some international chain. It’s a solid three-star property, and honestly, that’s exactly what it should be. The lobby has this understated charm with traditional touches that don’t feel forced or touristy. I mean, you’re literally steps away from some of Prague’s most iconic spots, but the hotel itself maintains this quietly confident vibe that I really appreciated.

Location Magic

Here’s the thing about staying in Prague‘s Old Town — location is everything, and Koruna absolutely nails it. You’re on a quieter side street (thank goodness), but Wenceslas Square is basically around the corner, and you can walk to Charles Bridge in about ten minutes. What I loved is that couples seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.2, which honestly makes perfect sense when you’re wandering these cobblestone streets at sunset. The neighborhood has that perfect mix of local cafés and tourist essentials, so you never feel completely isolated from real Prague life.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star in this part of the city — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. The windows actually open (which isn’t always a given), and if you’re lucky enough to get a street-facing room, you’ll catch glimpses of Prague’s beautiful architecture right from your bed. The bathrooms are compact but functional, and honestly, when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city, that’s all you really need. Everything worked properly, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here actually impressed me more than I expected. They’ve got the full English spread if that’s your thing, but what really stood out was how well they handle dietary restrictions — proper vegetarian options and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The breakfast room gets nice morning light, and there’s something satisfying about starting your Prague adventure with a proper meal rather than grabbing something random on the street. Plus, the staff seems to genuinely care about getting your day started right, which makes a difference when you’re dealing with jet lag or early morning museum plans.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Koruna Hotel isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re getting honest value in an absolutely prime location — I mean, that 9.2 location score from couples doesn’t lie. The 7.9 overall rating reflects what this place actually delivers: solid comfort, genuine hospitality, and the kind of positioning in Prague that lets you experience the city on foot rather than constantly figuring out transport. It’s the sort of place where you’ll sleep well, eat a decent breakfast, and spend your days discovering why Prague remains one of Europe’s most enchanting cities.

Superb

The hotel’s location is very good.
It is possible to walk to almost anywhere in the city.
There is a small elevator, which is very helpful especially on the first day when you arrive with your hands full of luggage.
The room was clean and tidy.
Everything needed to make tea, including a kettle, was available.
There were enough power outlets.

What could be improved: Although we requested to have a refrigerator installed in the room, they said they would do it but never did. Moreover, after that, they did not respond to us with any explanation.
After 8 p.m., there was no staff present at the hotel.
The key to the outer door was given to guests so that they could open and close it themselves and monitor entry and exit.

Very good

Location is fantastic and the hotel looks like it's had a lot of renovation work done quite recently. For a cheap one night stay right in the centre of the city this place is fantastic. And the couple of staff members we spoke to were extremely helpful and accommodating.
