Kings Residence Overview
Honestly, when I first walked up to Kings Residence on Podplukovníka Sochora, I wasn’t expecting much – the street’s pretty residential and quiet, which actually turned out to be one of its best features. You know how some Prague hotels stick you right in the tourist chaos? This isn’t that. It’s tucked into Smíchov, which I mean, locals know is where you go when you want to feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just visiting it.
The building itself has this understated charm that grows on you. It’s a 3-star place, sure, but they’ve clearly put thought into the details that matter. The lobby’s got this warm, lived-in feeling – not fancy, but genuinely welcoming in a way that makes you want to linger over your morning coffee. What really surprised me was how quiet my room was, even with the windows open. I’d been worried about street noise (learned that lesson the hard way in other European cities), but Podplukovníka Sochora is one of those tree-lined streets where the biggest disturbance is someone walking their dog. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too – they pointed me toward this little bakery around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on which tram stops to use during rush hour.
Here’s what sold me on the place: it’s got that sweet spot location where you feel like a local but you’re not stranded. Anděl metro station is maybe a 10-minute walk, which puts you pretty much anywhere in Prague within 20 minutes. But honestly, I found myself walking along the Vltava more often than taking transport – there’s this nice riverside path that leads toward the city center, and it’s especially gorgeous in the early morning when the mist’s still hanging over the water. The neighborhood’s got character too – real cafes where people work on laptops, a proper grocery store, even a decent Vietnamese restaurant (Prague’s full of them, but this one’s actually good). For an 8.4 rating, Kings Residence delivers exactly what it promises: comfortable, authentic, and refreshingly unpretentious. You won’t get Instagram-worthy marble bathrooms, but you will get a solid night’s sleep and wake up feeling like you’ve discovered a corner of Prague that most tourists miss entirely.

The room self, facilities and the location location are absolutely great for this money. Really hard to find any flaws. Overall cleanliness is also very high. Very happy with my stay and size of the room and everything.
What could be improved: My only problem with the stay is the quality of the breakfast. To be honest at this price I wouldn't even mind the stay being without the breakfast but because it's included I have some reservations. And those are mainly towards the quality of the hams, salamis, sausages, cheeses etc being served. Which look like the cheapest you can get. Also the eggs were terribly overcooked and have the suspicion that they might have been made from the powder. The coffee machine puts the hot water in your espresso. Otherwise it's fine and clean even in the breakfast area and I can imagine that for some people the food would be just fine. Again the breakfast was included in a very decent price so it's hard to even complain but if I imagine that somebody would pay fe. €8 for the breakfast on the top and got this they would likely be disappointed. Please take this as a personal opinion on the quality of the ingredients and not any serious concerns everything looked clean and fresh.Thank you for our stay – Denisa from Slovakia – 15 December 2024 (9/10)

Superb – Jaroslav from Slovakia – 10 November 2024 (9/10)
Hi, this was our 2nd stay in same hotel, so this can tell all imortant. All was fine, only broken, their typical blue flag with lion, was not nice…About one complication will be good to inform – Vystavna ulice is under construction and only trams could be used, so when you travel with your car its nice complication to comes close to hotel, but nothing too problematic.
What could be improved: all was fine..Great location, spacious apartment and good value for money – Nina from Denmark – 4 August 2024 (8/10)
The location is great and the apartment was big. Also the bathroom was very spacious. Everything was very clean.
What could be improved: The pillows were not great and we only got one per person so unfortunately we woke up with some neck pain the next day.Comfortable, walkable to Old Town and Central train station – Karen from United States – 20 July 2024 (9/10)
Nice and clean. It was our first stop from the airport, and they could store our bags until check-in while we checked out the city. Walkable to Old Town and the Central Train Station. Great breakfast. Do yourself a favor, and sign up for breakfasts.
