Kingdom of Skylight Overview

You know what struck me first about Kingdom of Skylight? The name sounds like something out of a fantasy novel, but honestly, it kind of fits once you’re there. It’s tucked away on Opatovická street in Prague’s New Town – and I mean properly tucked away, not just marketing speak. You’re basically a five-minute walk from Národní třída, which puts you right in the thick of things without dealing with the tourist chaos that hits Wenceslas Square every morning around 9 AM. The building itself has this interesting mix of old Prague architecture with modern touches that actually work together, though I’ll admit the lobby feels a bit smaller than you’d expect from the photos.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely know Prague, not just the obvious stuff. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the metro – he mentioned taking tram 22 because “you’ll see parts of the city most visitors miss, and it drops you right where you want to be.” That kind of local insight makes a difference. The rooms are solid for a 4-star place, nothing revolutionary but thoughtfully done. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the windows – here’s where that “Skylight” name starts making sense – let in this beautiful natural light that’s rare in Prague’s narrower streets. You can hear a bit of street noise if you’re facing Opatovická, but it’s more like gentle city hum than anything disruptive. I mean, you’re in the heart of Prague, so complete silence isn’t really on the menu anyway.

The breakfast setup surprised me in a good way – they’ve got local Czech options alongside the standard European spread, and the coffee is genuinely decent, not that bitter hotel coffee you usually resign yourself to. Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned for exploring both Old Town and the less touristy neighborhoods. Vinohrady is a quick tram ride, Kampa Island is walkable when you want something peaceful, and honestly, just wandering the streets around the hotel gives you that authentic Prague feeling without working too hard for it. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but everything works well and the little details show they care about the experience. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between boutique charm and reliable comfort, and you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually recommend rather than just another tourist hotel, Kingdom of Skylight delivers on that promise.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Prague at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous cultural festivals and outdoor concerts.

Reviews of Kingdom of Skylight

  • Great location but parking falsely advertised – Helena from Germany – 19 July 2025 (7/10)

it had a great location and was beautifully spacious.

What could be improved: We chose this property as it advertises free onsite parking, yet we were sent to park the car 15 minute walk away and also there parking was blue zone and 60 czeck Koruna per hour from
8 am, when infact close by spaces would’ve been 40 Koruna per hour. The views from the apartment were mostly to the inside of the building.

  • A convenient location but needs some attention to details. – Jan-maree from Australia – 8 July 2025 (7/10)

    Good location.

What could be improved: It should have been clearly stated on the initial booking page that the actual address would be provided later. This caused some confusion in finding the apartment. That said, it was a convenient location with everything we needed. For a non-Czech, it would be helpful to have a better explanation of the parking situation & how that works. Also information such as Wi-Fi login should be provided in the apartment. Beds & bed linen should be updated for better comfort.

  • Excellent and amazing place. I would definitely recommend for stay in Prague. – Tavares from India – 6 June 2025 (9/10)

We were welcomed by the staff and shown into the apartment. It’s an excellent location with close proximity to restaurants, shopping malls, tram station and site seeing spots.

The apartment was amazing and clean with all amenities required. The rooms were spacious and even the kitchen was well equipped.

What could be improved: Wi-Fi password could not be found. There was no QRcode on the router as mentioned by the staff. But it’s ok. Didn’t matter much.
I feel the next time for convenience of others, the password shud be mentioned via email so that it’s easier to stay connected. This is how other apartments do it.

  • Great stay – Naman from Netherlands – 5 June 2025 (8/10)

Overall property was very well maintained and equipped with all the necessary appliances.

    What could be improved: NA

  • Good – Veronika from Hungary – 25 October 2024 (7/10)

The flat is huge and comfortable, was perfect for our group. Very silent and clean.

What could be improved: Beds were a little too firm. Communication could have been easier.

  • Fair place with great location – Marcela from United Kingdom – 25 June 2025 (8/10)

    Location and spacious flat

What could be improved: Bit dirty (garbage from previous ppl hasn’t been removed, dirty bathrooms and kitchen)

  • Great apartment lovely furnishing central for everything in Prague – Pamela from United Kingdom – 16 November 2024 (10/10)

Huge apartment everything you need – great location , good communication with staff

What could be improved: Only issue was it is not the address as on booking.com – only round the corner but be aware if ordering a taxi prior to stay – beds are a bit hard and pillows were more like cushions although after Prague beer we all slept well

  • Pleasant – Marika from Israel – 30 September 2024 (6/10)

    The design
    The location
    The building
    Big appartment
    Clean

What could be improved: The matrasses are not comfortable
The washing machine wasn't working well
Air conditioning is a big machine next to the bad that makes a lot of noice.

  • Superb – Pablo from Spain – 4 May 2025 (9/10)

Wifi.

What could be improved: Nada. Todo muy bien.

  • Udany i polecamy – Pilichowski from Poland – 11 February 2025 (8/10)

Lokalizacja w centrum, wszędzie rzeczywiście blisko. Duży apartament, 2 łazienki, kuchnia z całym wyposażeniem. Parking mimo że publiczny to właściciel opłacił za cały pobyt.

What could be improved: Nie działało ogrzewanie 1 dnia ale cieszymy się że szybko zostało załatwione. Brakuje haczyków w łazience na ubrania i wieszaków w szafie. Ogólnie szukanie troszkę na siłę minusów. Szczerze polecamy 🙂
