You know what caught me off guard about the INNSiDE by Meliá? I expected another sleek chain hotel trying too hard to be trendy, but this place actually gets Prague right. Walking up Soukenická street – which honestly most tourists never find since it’s tucked between the main drags – you almost miss the entrance. It’s understated in that way that makes you feel like you discovered something.

The building itself has this interesting thing going on where they’ve kept some of the original architecture but added these clean, modern touches that don’t feel forced. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Old Town Square, but you’re not dealing with the constant noise and crowds that come with staying right on the tourist trail. The rooms have this minimalist thing happening – not sparse, just… intentional, I guess? Big windows that actually open (thank god), and the beds are legitimately comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. The bathroom setup is pretty clever too, with this glass partition that somehow doesn’t feel awkward.

Here’s what I really appreciated – the staff seem to know Prague beyond just the obvious recommendations. When I asked about good Czech food that wasn’t tourist-trap expensive, the guy at the front desk sent me to this place on Dlouhá street that I never would’ve found otherwise. They’ve got this small lobby bar area that gets busy around 7 PM with a mix of guests and what looked like locals, which is always a good sign. The breakfast situation is solid – nothing revolutionary, but they do this local pastry thing that’s worth getting up for. Parking is garage-style underneath if you’re driving (though honestly, why would you in this part of Prague?), and I noticed they’re pretty good about letting you store luggage if you arrive early or leave late. The neighborhood gets quiet after about 10 PM, which means you can actually sleep with the windows open in summer. One small thing – the elevators are a bit slow, but that’s pretty standard for buildings in this area that have been converted. Overall, it feels like someone designed this place for people who actually travel regularly, not just for Instagram photos.
