Ibis Praha Mala Strana Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Ibis Praha Mala Strana on Plzenska Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star chain hotel. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself is pretty standard Ibis fare, but the location is where things get interesting. You’re technically in Mala Strana (Lesser Town), which sounds fancy, but really you’re positioned perfectly between the touristy castle area and the more authentic neighborhoods where actual Praguers live and work.
What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night – and I mean properly quiet, not city-quiet. Plzenska isn’t one of those streets where trams are clattering by every five minutes, so you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open (which I always do because hotel air conditioning never quite hits right, you know?). The rooms are clean and functional in that distinctly European way – everything you need, nothing you don’t. The beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept in a hammock, and honestly, after walking around Prague’s cobblestones all day, that matters more than fancy thread counts. I particularly appreciated that the shower pressure was decent – not amazing, but way better than some of the boutique places I’ve stayed at in the Old Town where it’s basically a gentle mist.
Here’s the thing that really won me over though: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Wenceslas Square without dealing with the tourist crowds around the castle, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic map – he walked me outside and pointed out this little route through some side streets that cuts your walking time in half. You end up passing this great bakery (I think it’s called Pekařství something) where locals queue up for morning pastries. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me because it’s one of those places that does exactly what it promises without any pretense. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or turndown service, but you’re also not dealing with broken elevators or sketchy wifi. Plus, there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t try to be Instagram-perfect – you can just relax and use it as your base for exploring the city. The only minor downside is that you’ll want to grab breakfast elsewhere if you’re looking for anything beyond standard continental fare, but honestly, that gives you an excuse to find one of those amazing Prague coffee spots where a proper cappuccino costs less than a bottle of water back home.

Reviews of Ibis Praha Mala Strana
Classic reliable Ibis – Jobe from Thailand – 25 July 2025 (8/10)
Classic ibis. Easy to stay, check in and out without problems, cleaned each day, good facilities.
What could be improved: This was fine for us but it’s a 30/40min walk to old town but trams are outside and train station to airport is 5mine away.Motorcycle tour – Sid from United Kingdom – 23 July 2025 (9/10)
Location and motorcycle parking. The staff was very nice and helpful and the room was just perfect for a two night stay. Breakfast was very good and yes we would stay again.
What could be improved: Only thing that might stop us staying here again when touring would be the road system leaving the hotel to go north.Good stay but would expect few more things when I hear Ibis. – Mayur from India – 20 July 2025 (7/10)
Location, cleanliness, buffet spread, staff
What could be improved: Facilities like room service not available, dental kit not provided as complimentaryGood place in Mala Strana – Silvia from Mexico – 6 June 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is very close to the mall and the tram station (Andel). The room was quiet, comfy and clean. Breakfast was OK.
What could be improved: The room didn't have a safe box.Excellent – Tim from United Kingdom – 26 May 2025 (8/10)
Good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast
What could be improved: The locks with cards need improving. It takes a long time to make it click open. Apparently ‘that is how it is’. However I have now come to a cheaper hostel in Vienna and the door locks work perfectly so this is something you need to look at . Everything else is really goodGood – Luc from France – 20 May 2025 (7/10)
Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Rather on the small side. Bathroom is good. Wifi is good. Dog-friendly. Good underground parking belonging to the hotel. Buffet breakfast. Good location next to large shopping mall (with food court) and metro + tramway station. Very quiet room.
What could be improved: It was my 3rd time staying here, but it seems breakfast quality has decreased now. Overall, not very tasty as before, cakes are dry and bland for example. Breakfast staff is a bit pushy to remove your plates as space is limited. Parking is good but the ticket machine at entrance was not working during out stay, and we had to call reception to get the gate to open. Access is quite narrow, but the parking fits cars up to 2m high.Loved everything about my stay, staff were polite & attentive. – Tetiana from Ukraine – 8 March 2025 (8/10)
Super clean & friendly staff.
Superb – Awilde22 from United Kingdom – 3 March 2025 (9/10)
Fantastic hotel. Only small issues were the lifts (which were a pain the whole trip) and the fact I had to hold my shower head otherwise it either pointed at the wall or the shower screen
Superb – James from Spain – 17 February 2025 (9/10)
Very good location, excellent breakfast, comfortable room, comfortable bed, very good value for money
What could be improved: Internet was a bit slow but it was not a big problemPerfect place for city breaks – Agness from Ireland – 11 February 2025 (8/10)
Close to public transportation, close to shops , recommend breakfast in package
