You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Wilhelm? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Prague 6, but somehow it feels like you’ve found this perfect little secret that most tourists completely miss. I mean, you’re technically in Břevnov – which honestly, half the people I know who visit Prague have never even heard of – but here’s the thing: you’re actually closer to the castle than if you stayed in some overpriced place in Old Town, and the tram connections are surprisingly solid.

The building itself has this understated charm that grows on you. It’s not trying to be some grand palace hotel, which I actually appreciate. The rooms are proper comfortable without being fancy – think clean lines, decent beds, and those little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. The staff genuinely seem to know their neighborhood, too. When I asked about getting to Petřin Hill, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the tourist tram – he told me about this shortcut through the monastery grounds that cuts fifteen minutes off the walk. That’s the kind of local intel you can’t Google.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it sits in the rhythm of actual Prague life. You’ll hear church bells from the nearby Břevnov Monastery in the morning (honestly, it’s kind of lovely), and there’s this authentic residential vibe where you see people walking their dogs and heading to work instead of just crowds of tour groups. The Bílá Hora tram stop is maybe a three-minute walk, and from there you can get pretty much anywhere – Hradčany, Malá Strana, even down to Wenceslas Square without too much hassle. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the area actually gets quiet at night. Like, properly quiet. If you’ve ever tried to sleep near the astronomical clock during summer, you’ll understand why that matters. There’s decent parking if you’re driving, which – let’s be honest – is getting rare in Prague these days. The whole thing just works without any drama, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a place to stay.

  I had an overnight flight so checked in very very early. I had to switch to a single room but they accommodated me. Great breakfast great shower and comfortable bed. It's close to a high street with bars restaurants and shops

  I liked the helpfulness of the staff regarding directions and recommendations. I liked how quiet it was and the extras like a shoehorn and slippers in the room along with bottled water
  . I also liked my room because there was no room beside it, which made my stay a more pleasant one.
  
  What could be improved: I didn't really get why there was a kettle in my room but no coffee or teabags. There was a bit of a sewage smell at times, i don't know if the rain had anything to do with that???. The surrounding area was quite hilly and for someone with mobility issues it was a challenge at times.
