Hotel U Kříže Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel U Kříže on Újezd street, you immediately get that authentic Prague feeling — this isn’t some cookie-cutter chain hotel, but a proper Czech establishment that’s been welcoming guests for years. The building itself has that classic Central European charm, and the location is truly exceptional. You’re right in the heart of Prague but on a quieter street that doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. The neighborhood strikes a perfect balance between central accessibility and peaceful residential character.
The Perfect Prague Base
What really struck me about this three-star hotel is how couples seem to absolutely love staying here — and after spending time in the area, I totally get why they rate the location so highly. You’re walking distance from Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, and all those winding cobblestone streets that make the city so magical. The Újezd area has this lovely residential feel while still being central, which means you can actually get a good night’s sleep without the noise from the main tourist strips. The surrounding neighborhood offers excellent access to local cafes, galleries, and authentic Czech culture.
Your Room and Comfort
The rooms here are what you’d expect from a solid three-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged without any unnecessary frills. Each space feels distinctly Czech rather than generic international hotel, which I actually prefer when I’m traveling. The beds are proper and comfortable, and you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need after a long day exploring Prague’s hills and staircases. The staff clearly takes pride in maintaining everything well, and it shows in the small details. Furnishings are practical and well-maintained throughout.
The Food Situation
Here’s something that genuinely surprised me — the food at Hotel U Kříže is actually really good. I’ve stayed at plenty of smaller hotels where the restaurant is more of an afterthought, but this place takes their meals seriously. The breakfast buffet gives you a proper start to the day with both Czech specialties and international options, and honestly, it’s substantial enough that you might not need lunch until later. Local guests seem to eat here regularly too, which is always a good sign. The dining experience reflects genuine care for quality and guest satisfaction.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this hotel work so well is that balance between being authentically Prague while still meeting modern traveler expectations. You’re getting solid comfort in an absolutely prime location with excellent value for money. The fact that couples consistently rate their experience so highly tells you something about the atmosphere here — it’s romantic without trying too hard, and peaceful enough that you can actually relax between sightseeing sessions. For the price point and location, it’s honestly hard to find better value in Prague’s city center. This is a hotel that understands what guests truly need.
The concierge service in Prague can arrange exclusive tours of Prague Castle, secure reservations at traditional beer halls, and organize personalized visits to Charles Bridge and the UNESCO World Heritage historic center.

Reviews of Hotel U Kříže
Comfortable and convenient – Jn from United Kingdom – 11 July 2025 (9/10)
A lovely hotel and great value for money, being west of the river, but with all the sights of the old town within easy walking distance, or a short ride from the tram stop right outside the front door. Despite being on a busy road, which had the advantage of a great choice of cafes and restaurants, our 2 room suite looked on to an inner courtyard, with no traffic noise. The rooms were comfortable, clean and air conditioned, with a free mini bar fridge (beer and water) and an en suite with a walk-in wet room shower. Breakfast, included in the price, offered a wide selection. The hotel staff were very accommodating, allowing us to store our luggage after check-out while we continued sightseeing.
What could be improved: Nothing. I loved this hotel.Superb – Brandon from United States – 4 July 2025 (9/10)
The staff were incredibly kind and professional, the room was cozy, and the location was very centrally located.
Excellent value for money hotel on a great location close to city center with good public transport. – Csaba from Hungary – 3 July 2025 (9/10)
Breakfast was decent continental food but nothing extra. A little more variety would be nice from day to day.
There was a welcome drink in the fridge, and they served champagne on the day of our leaving which was a nice surprise.
What could be improved: With open windows the street traffic is quite noisy. (Tram in front of the Hotel, Guests in the restaurants in the ground floor), So we kept the windows mostly closed.Great stay! – Vasilica from Romania – 12 June 2025 (9/10)
The location is perfect to explore the city, around 10 to 20 minutes walk to major sightseeings. In front of the hotel you can climb to the view point. The breakfast very good, big room and clean, staff very helpfull and great. If you need parking there are a lot of blue parking spots(30eur day) and 1 min walk you have a purple parking that is cheaper. Lots of restaurants/bars near the location.
Comfortable, homely, and cheap stay at great location – Gertjan from Netherlands – 25 April 2025 (8/10)
The location of this hotel is great, and the price is good.
I felt very comfortable in this hotel. Staff cared well, and stayed in the background.
It is a nice breakfast they serve, but nothing spectacular. It seems to be mostly local grocery items. Still very convenient.
What could be improved: Not much, it is good to realize the place is a bit older, so there is some wear and tear. But still everything felt clean and the bed was comfortable to me.Convenient and Comfortable. – Mmhaji from India – 15 April 2025 (9/10)
Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast spread was wide. The view from the room was pleasant
What could be improved: Had challenges communicating in EnglishSuperb – Slater from United Kingdom – 12 April 2025 (9/10)
Location is superb just across the road from the monument to the victims of communism and Petrin Park . Easy to get to all the main attractions on foot..
Staff were fantastic and would go out of their way to help.
What could be improved: Only reason I didn't give maximum marks was noise from the restaurant on the ground floor , you could hear chairs scraping along the floor . No loud music but general sounds from the restaurant can affect lighter sleepers.Excellent location to walk into town centre of Prague. Lovely breakfast, comfortable bed, very clean bathroom. Tram runs – Jana from Slovakia – 17 March 2025 (8/10)
