Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Hotel U 3 Pstrosu? The name sounds impossible to pronounce (honestly, I still stumble over it), but this little gem sits right on Dražického náměstí in a spot that feels like you’ve discovered Prague’s best-kept secret. I mean, you’re literally steps from Prague Castle – and I’m talking actual steps, not that “walking distance” nonsense hotels usually claim. The location is sort of tucked away on this quiet square that most tourists rush past without noticing, which works perfectly in your favor because you get all the proximity without the chaos.

The building itself has that weathered Prague charm – you know, the kind where every stone looks like it could tell you stories about centuries of history, but someone’s also made sure the plumbing actually works in 2024. Walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone who actually cares runs this place. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood (they pointed me toward this incredible little tavern on Nerudova that I never would’ve found otherwise), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No upselling, no lengthy presentations about amenities – just “here’s your key, the castle’s that way, and coffee starts at seven.” The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable beds that don’t leave you searching for more pillows, and windows that actually block out street noise. That last part matters more than you’d think, because even though Dražického náměstí stays pretty quiet, Prague’s old streets can echo weirdly at night.

What really won me over was how the hotel fits into the rhythm of the neighborhood. Mornings, you’ll hear church bells from multiple directions (it’s Prague, bells are everywhere), and you can grab proper Czech coffee and pastries within a two-minute walk without fighting crowds of tour groups. The 8.8 rating honestly feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but everything works the way it should, the location is genuinely excellent, and you get that feeling like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually recommend. The only minor thing? Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but honestly, once you’re settled in this part of Lesser Town, you won’t want to use a car anyway. Everything worth seeing is either walkable or easily reachable by tram, and there’s something pretty satisfying about ending your day exploring Prague Castle or the Charles Bridge, then just walking a few minutes back to your quiet square to crash for the night.

Reviews

  • Patricia from Ireland – 13 December 2023 (9/10)

The staff were lovely, friendly welcoming . The location was perfect, the breakfast was excellent, lots on offer, the coffee and tea machine for guests was great. Warm clean and comfortable. Really nice hotel.

What could be improved: Not a thing.

  • Dean from United Kingdom – 28 March 2025 (9/10)

We enjoyed our stay at the Kampa annex of the U 3 Pstrosu. The apartment was on the ground floor of a building on the banks of the Vltava just below Charles Bridge, the location was excellent. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped, the breakfast (in the main hotel) was great and the people were friendly and helpful. Bear in mind that the apartment is in and old building so expect "rustic shabby chic" and embrace the history.

What could be improved: The bathroom has a handheld shower over the bath but no shower curtain, breakfast would benefit from a toaster.

  • Matt from United Kingdom – 28 March 2025 (9/10)

The hotel is in a prime location on the end of the Charles bridge. We stayed in the Mostecka Annex apartment which is located opposite the main hotel, and enclosed in a charming, secure little courtyard. The apartment was wonderful and spacious, with high ceilings. It was lovely to relax in, after a days exploring Prague. The reception and staff were very helpful, and a pleasure to speak with.
The breakfast was tasty, and made a good start to the day, with fruits, breads, yogurt, hams and cheeses, and eggs and cooked meats.

  • Marroquin from Mexico – 11 March 2025 (9/10)

Hotel U 3 Pstrosu in Prague is a true gem in every sense. Its location is unbeatable, right in the heart of the city, and the hotel itself is a beautiful place with a fascinating history. The staff's attention is exceptional always kind and attentive. A fantastic bonus is the unlimited coffee and tea on the first floor, available at any time, a detail that truly makes a difference. Plus, the breakfast is spectacular, with delicious options to start the day in the best way. An unforgettable experience in a magical city!

  • Ruth from Slovakia – 1 March 2025 (9/10)

Amazing location, and relatively quiet. Good breakfast. Helpful staff.

  • Dmitry from South Korea – 25 February 2025 (9/10)

    Best Location in Prague

What could be improved: Was a little cold the water from the bathtub drained slowly

  • Catherine from United Kingdom – 22 February 2025 (9/10)

We stayed in one of the apartments. It was lovely, spacious, comfortable and very clean.

What could be improved: The breakfast included was not great. Served from 7am to 10am but if you get there after 9 not much left & they don’t replenish. Very little healthy options and poor choice of fruit.

  • François from Switzerland – 10 January 2025 (9/10)

This hotel is perfectly located right next to the Charles Bridge, and we even had a stunning view of it from our room! The staff was incredibly friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed dining on the terrace as well as in the restaurant—both experiences were fantastic!

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Sukhy from United Kingdom – 9 January 2025 (9/10)

The location was perfect right at the end of the charles bridge and so close to the train station. It was easy taking public transport from the airport to the hotel.
The hotel itself is an older building and has a lot of character. It really gives the prague experience. If your expecting a modern hotel this won't be the place for you but you would be missing out on the full experience. Wifi isn't great all across the hotel we moved from the 4th floor to the 3rd where it was perfect! You have go down tk the first floor to make tea etc as rooms don't have those facilties but it wasn't an issue. The beds were comfy shower was clean and the view was insane! Staff were so friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was great too – a great mixture of things to eat. I've shared a photo of my window view!

What could be improved: If i had to be really fussy maybe stronger wifi but we moved floors so it wasn't an issue i think if we couldn't move floors and stayed on the 4th floor where it was weak then it would have been.

  • Kimberly from United States – 6 January 2025 (9/10)

    Loved the old world charm

What could be improved: Electronic key was spotty and inconsistent
