Hotel St George – Czech Leading Hotels Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Prague hotels, and Hotel St George honestly surprised me in the best way possible. You know how sometimes a place just feels right the moment you walk in? That’s this hotel. It’s tucked away on Tyršova street in Vinohrady – not the touristy Old Town chaos, but close enough that you’re a quick tram ride from everything that matters. The neighborhood actually has this lovely residential vibe where you’ll see locals walking their dogs and grabbing coffee at the corner café, which I mean, that’s the real Prague experience right there.

What really got me was the attention to detail throughout the place. The lobby has this understated elegance – no flashy marble or over-the-top chandeliers, just quality everywhere you look. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too, and I’m talking beyond the usual “how was your stay” pleasantries. When I mentioned wanting to find a good traditional Czech restaurant that wasn’t a tourist trap, the concierge didn’t just hand me a generic list – he actually drew a little map showing me exactly which tram to take and warned me that the place he recommended gets packed after 7 PM (he was absolutely right). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star property, but it’s the little things that matter – proper blackout curtains that actually work, a bathroom where you don’t have to perform gymnastics to shower, and honestly, some of the most comfortable beds I’ve encountered in Central Europe.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the location puts you right in the sweet spot for exploring Prague without dealing with the constant stream of tour groups. Charles Square is literally a few minutes’ walk, and from there you can easily wander into New Town or catch the metro to wherever. The area gets pretty quiet at night, which was perfect for actually getting some sleep – though you’ll still hear the occasional tram, but that’s just Prague being Prague. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (street parking only, and you’ll want to ask the front desk about the zones), but honestly, you won’t need a car anyway. The whole experience felt like staying somewhere that locals would actually recommend to their friends visiting from out of town, rather than just another hotel that looks good in photos but falls short in reality. That 9 rating it’s got? Yeah, I get it completely.

Early hotels booking in Prague is essential during major events like the Prague Spring Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned classical music scene and Gothic architecture.

Reviews of Hotel St George – Czech Leading Hotels

  • Ivan from Finland – 4 January 2025 (10/10)

The hotel is located in a great location. Parking was on the street, but paid by the hotel – had to do 3 laps around the block to find parking though. Besides that, the hotel and its facilities were good, the staff was even better. Everybody was really friendly and forthcoming. Aidana at the reception was really helpful, and the breakfast staff Ekaterina and Yuila made sure we are taken care of as well. All in all, really positive experience. Will book accommodation here again once back in Prague.

  • Daria from Germany – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

We got a lot of presents, wine, vouchers ,etc.
    Free parking.

What could be improved: In the photo superior room looks a bit bigger , but everything was anyway totally fine.

  • Tomas from United Kingdom – 22 March 2025 (9/10)

The property wasn’t directly in the city centre but more than easy enough to get to with a tram stop close by. The building was well maintained and had a unique character. The staff were on hand to help 24/7 and easy answered any questions we had. The breakfast was freshly prepared each morning with different selections each day. The rooms were cleaned daily and there were no issues with cleanliness at this hotel.

What could be improved: There isn’t much to say here my only suggestions would be to possibly look into improving the lifts as they did feel a bit outdated and sometimes didn’t work during our stay. Other than this everything else was quite satisfactory.

  • Akif from United Kingdom – 15 March 2025 (10/10)

    Staff wonderful
    Central

  • Patricia from Ireland – 10 March 2025 (8/10)

Well located. Good value, clean and comfortable.

What could be improved: Some odd systems. Breakfast was not included in my stay, when I opted to have it the staff didn’t seem to be able to charge it to the room from the dining room. Better to include it I think!
