Hotel Schwaiger Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Hotel Schwaiger on Schwaigerova street – honestly, the name had me stumbling over pronunciation for weeks. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into this quieter residential area in Prague 6, which means you’re away from the tourist chaos but still close enough to hop on the metro and be in Old Town in like twenty minutes. The building itself has that understated Czech elegance thing going on – not flashy, but there’s something really solid and welcoming about it. When I walked into the lobby, it smelled faintly of wood polish and coffee, which sounds weird but was actually pretty comforting after a long travel day.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right. I mean, check-in was smooth (they had my room ready even though I arrived early), and the front desk guy – I think his name was Pavel – actually drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid construction on Evropská street. That’s the kind of local insight you just don’t get at chain hotels. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than fancy – everything works perfectly, the beds are actually comfortable (not just hotel-comfortable), and there’s this nice balance of modern amenities without feeling sterile. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious, and honestly, the water pressure was better than my apartment back home. One small thing that stuck with me was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to the city that you feel connected, but far enough from the main drags that you actually sleep well.
Here’s what really sealed it for me though – the breakfast situation is legitimately good, not just “good for a hotel.” They had proper Czech pastries alongside the usual international stuff, and the coffee was strong enough to wake the dead. Plus, there’s this little terrace area where you can sit outside when the weather’s decent and watch the neighborhood come to life. It’s right near the Hvězda park, which most tourists completely miss but is perfect for morning walks or evening runs. The whole area feels authentically Prague-ish without being touristy – you’ll see locals walking their dogs, kids heading to school, that sort of real-life stuff. Parking was easy too, which if you’ve ever driven in Prague, you know is basically a miracle. I stayed there twice last year, and honestly, both times I left thinking this is exactly what a good city hotel should be – comfortable, well-located, and run by people who actually seem to enjoy their jobs. That 9.4 rating isn’t an accident.

Reviews of Hotel Schwaiger
Evelin from Romania – 18 December 2023 (10/10)
All good, starting with the staff’s willingness to help (with tips on what we can visit, which means of transportation to use, even tickets if needed, we’ve also received a nice little map of the city), to the design of the room, to the tasty breakfast, to the surrounding area close to embassies and even a police station.. so as safe as it gets and really quiet 🙂 we would definitely stay here again

Extremely large room, clean and comfortable. Very diverse breakfast with healthy options such as broccoli, chia pudding and poached eggs. Very helpful receptionist, provided us a map with all the touristic points. Metro station at 10 minutes walking with straight connection to old town.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely perfect! My mom, little sister, and I stayed for 4 nights, and everything was amazing. The room was spacious and cozy, and we even received small gifts for Christmas and New Year’s, such a thoughtful touch!
The breakfast was exceptional, offering everything you could possibly want and more. The location is ideal, just a 10-minute walk to the tram, which is only three stops from the city center.
The highlight, though, was the staff. They were incredibly kind, welcoming, always smiling, and so helpful. Truly a 10/10 experience. I really really recommend this hotel ☺️
