Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Sanssouci? The name – it’s actually borrowed from that famous palace in Potsdam, meaning “without worries,” and honestly, that pretty much sums up the vibe here. Tucked away on V Podhájí street in Prague’s Smíchov district, this three-star spot feels like stumbling onto a neighborhood secret. I mean, you’re far enough from the tourist chaos of Old Town to actually breathe, but close enough that you can still hear the distant hum of trams cutting through the city. The building itself has that understated Czech charm – nothing flashy, just solid and welcoming in that Eastern European way where function meets subtle elegance.

What really gets me about this place is how it nails the balance between being genuinely local and tourist-friendly. The staff actually seem to know Prague beyond the castle and the bridge (refreshing, right?), and they’ll point you toward spots like the nearby Anděl shopping center or tell you which tram gets you to Wenceslas Square fastest. The rooms are clean and comfortable – not Instagram-perfect, but the kind of space where you can actually relax after walking cobblestones all day. I noticed the windows are decent quality too, which matters because Prague can get surprisingly noisy, especially if you’re staying closer to the center. Here though, mornings are pretty peaceful, maybe just some birds and the occasional delivery truck rumbling past.

The 8.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not trying to be the Four Seasons, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually works (you’d be surprised how many Prague hotels still struggle with this), and there’s decent coffee in the lobby – though honestly, you’ll want to venture out to one of the local cafés for the real stuff. The location is perfect if you’re planning to explore beyond the tourist bubble. Petřín Hill is walkable from here, and you’re positioned well for day trips or just wandering through residential Prague to see how people actually live. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s driven in Prague will tell you is basically a minor miracle. For a three-star in this city, Hotel Sanssouci gets the fundamentals right and throws in just enough personality to make your stay memorable for the right reasons.

Reviews

  • Good – Saikat from Netherlands – 23 February 2025 (7/10)

    Cleanliness, location, parking

What could be improved: 1. No dustbin inside the room, a dustbin was there in the bathroom but it's too mail and it was for throwing tissue paper not wastages

    2. It's good to understand the english by the care taker

    3. Initially breakfast was included when it was booked but after that it wasn't

    4. No basic sanitary like toothpaste and brush was not provided

  • Good – Tímea from Hungary – 13 December 2024 (7/10)

Easy access to city center by tram which is few minutes walk away from the hotel. The hotel has private parking place.Good size of room with cosy bed.

What could be improved: The quality and the variety of the breakfast. There were no day when we got fresh cruncy breadrolls and staff like that. The scrambeled eggs were made from powder and could not eat it..Everyday the same was served

  • I guess it will be our hotel for our future trips to Prague – Denys from Ukraine – 3 March 2025 (10/10)

I like the location in a green zone. Really quite place where you can here birds songs. Room was clean and nice. Bathroom was much better than I had expected. Breakfast is a great plus and very friendly staff.

What could be improved: Everything was great

  • Prima verzorgd hotel – Karin from Belgium – 26 June 2025 (9/10)

Rustig gelegen, net buiten Praag. Ideaal voor ons om onze fietsen veilig te parkeren!

  • Superb – Siqian from Germany – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Haupteingang ist nicht einfach zu finden. Aber das ist kein großer Problem

  • Superb – David from Czech Republic – 12 June 2025 (9/10)
