Hotel Rott Overview
So I’ve actually stayed at Hotel Rott a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets better the more you know Prague. The thing is, you’re literally right on Malé náměstí – which most tourists walk through without realizing they’re standing in what’s basically Prague’s most charming little square. I mean, Old Town Square gets all the attention with the astronomical clock and crowds, but this spot? It’s like the sophisticated older sibling that doesn’t need to show off.
The hotel itself sits in this gorgeous baroque building that – and here’s something most people don’t know – actually has parts dating back to the 14th century. You can sort of feel that history when you walk through the lobby, especially in the morning when the light hits those old stone details just right. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern without being sterile, you know? They’ve managed to keep some of the original character (those thick walls mean you barely hear the trams on Národní street), but you’re not dealing with creaky floors or weird plumbing issues that plague some of the older hotels in this area. Actually, the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for a historic building – I’m guessing they did some clever renovation work there.
What really sold me on this place though is how it sits right in the sweet spot for exploring. You’re maybe a three-minute walk to Charles Bridge, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you’re not dealing with street performers at 11 PM. And here’s a local tip – there’s this tiny passage just around the corner that leads directly to Kampa Island, which half the guidebooks completely miss. The hotel staff actually knows about stuff like this, which is refreshing. They’re not just pointing you toward the castle and calling it a day. Plus, if you’re into good coffee (and honestly, who isn’t?), there’s this excellent little roastery called Mezi Zrny about two blocks away that the concierge recommended to me – definitely not somewhere I would’ve found on my own. The whole area comes alive differently throughout the day too. Mornings are peaceful with locals heading to work, afternoons bring a gentle buzz of café culture, and evenings… well, that’s when the old-world charm really kicks in with all the golden lighting on the cobblestones. One small thing – parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving, but there’s a decent garage about five minutes away, and honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re settled in anyway.

This hotel is in a central location within walking distance of most of Prague’s sights. Despite its central location it is quiet and comfortable.
What could be improved: We were able to take an Uber from the airport at a price which was significantly cheaper than the airport shuttle offered by the hotel.Marcela from Slovakia – 30 March 2025 (10/10)
Great location, clean rooms, big comfortable beds, stylish entrance and reception. Spacious bathroom and they served prosecco for breakfast which was a great start of the weekend in Prague 🙂 we had a courtyard view room and it was very quiet, we enjoyed being in the center yet having a quiet place to sleep.
