Hotel Residence Green Lobster

Prague, Czech Republic
Nerudova 42, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Residence Green Lobster? The name sounds absolutely ridiculous – I mean, who came up with “Green Lobster” for a boutique hotel in Prague’s castle district? But honestly, once you’re standing on Nerudova Street looking up at this beautifully restored building, the quirky name starts to make sense. There’s something charmingly unconventional about the whole place that fits perfectly with the cobblestone street it sits on.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to feel like you’re living in old Prague rather than just visiting it. Nerudova is one of those steep, winding streets that leads directly up to Prague Castle – you’re literally walking the same path that merchants and nobles took centuries ago. What’s brilliant is that while you’re smack in the middle of tourist central, the hotel itself feels like a well-kept secret. Most people are huffing and puffing their way up to the castle and completely miss this gem tucked between the souvenir shops and traditional Czech restaurants. I actually loved staying here during my visit last spring because you could duck inside whenever the crowds got overwhelming, then pop back out when you wanted to explore.

The rooms have this perfect balance of historical character and modern comfort – think exposed wooden beams and original stone details, but with actually decent WiFi and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re roughing it. The staff clearly knows their stuff about Prague too, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward Kampa Island for morning runs (way better than trying to jog around Old Town Square) and recommended this tiny wine bar called Hemingway Bar that I never would’ve found on my own. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re right in the thick of things. Sure, you’ll hear some late-night chatter from people walking back from dinner, but it’s not the kind of party noise that keeps you up. The 8.8 rating makes total sense when you factor in that combination of authentic atmosphere and genuine helpfulness – it’s not trying to be a flashy five-star palace, but it delivers exactly what you want from a Prague experience. If you’re the type who’d rather stay somewhere with actual personality than a generic chain hotel, this place gets it right.

Beautiful little hotel with tons of character. Location at the top of Nerudova street and a stones throw away from the Prague castle was magical.
