Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked up Nerudova Street looking for Hotel Residence Bijou de Prague, I almost missed it – which is actually kind of perfect because this place feels like Prague’s best-kept secret tucked right into one of the city’s most famous cobblestone streets. You know how some hotels try way too hard to feel “authentic”? Well, this one doesn’t have to try. It’s literally built into a historic building on the same street tourists climb every day to reach Prague Castle, but somehow it maintains this intimate, almost residential vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying at a sophisticated friend’s place rather than just another hotel.

The location is honestly incredible, and I mean that in the most practical sense. You’re a three-minute walk from the castle (uphill, fair warning), but more importantly, you’re right in the heart of Lesser Town where locals actually hang out. There’s this tiny wine bar called U Fleku just around the corner that most guidebooks miss, and the early morning coffee crowd at the café across the street includes more Czech speakers than English – always a good sign. The building itself has that solid, old-world feel where the walls are thick enough that you don’t hear every footstep in the hallway, though you will hear the occasional clip-clop of horse carriages on the cobblestones outside (which is either charming or slightly annoying at 6 AM, depending on your tolerance for authentic Prague sounds).

What really sets this place apart – and maybe why it pulls an 8.9 rating – is how they’ve managed to modernize without losing character. The rooms have all the stuff you actually need (good Wi-Fi, decent shower pressure, blackout curtains that work), but they’ve kept details like original wooden beams and these gorgeous tall windows that let in amazing light during the day. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood, too. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a brochure – he actually walked outside and pointed down two different streets while explaining which restaurants the locals prefer versus the obvious tourist traps. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees, and they store luggage without making a big production of it. It’s the kind of place where small things just work the way they should, which honestly feels pretty rare these days. If you’re planning to stay in Prague and want to feel connected to the city rather than insulated from it, this is your spot.

visiting prague and staying in such a "historical" hotel is worth the money. super big room, designed to feel back in the 18th century with 20th century comfort. We loved the place and its location. just a few walking minutes away from THE old town and its sights. (needless to say that there are sights around every corner in prague) we would definitely recommend staying here. very nice breakfast too and welcoming staff.

Location, interior, cleanliness, everything was great.

  • Alex from United Kingdom – 7 February 2025 (9/10)

Superb location below Prague Castle. I really liked the regal style of the room!

What could be improved: The double bed had 2 single duvets instead of one.

  • Ionut-madalin from United Kingdom – 24 January 2025 (9/10)

The accommodation was excellent everything was clean and tidy, the hotel location was the best because we walked to see all the attractions, breakfast excellent and the staff friendly and very nice.Room internet good

What could be improved: The only thing I didn't like was the Czech television 😁 because almost all the tv channels are dubbed in Czech language but the Retro music channel saves them and another minus- the tv was an old model which didn't connect to the internet.

  • Nataliia from Ireland – 22 January 2025 (9/10)

Our stay was incredibly comfortable. The room exceeded our expectations. The location is very convenient, all the places of interest are within walking distance. And, at the same time, the street where the hotel is located is very quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend this hotel.

  • Thomas from Ireland – 4 January 2025 (9/10)

Room was very comfortable and clean. Hotel is in a great location, walking distance of old town castle and charles bridge
