Hotel PurPur Overview

You know what struck me first about Hotel PurPur? The name actually makes sense when you walk through the door – there’s this subtle purple theme running through the lobby that somehow doesn’t feel cheesy or overdone. It’s tucked away on Řeznická, which is one of those narrow Old Town streets that tourists usually rush past on their way to the more famous spots, but honestly, that’s part of its charm.

The location is pretty stellar if you ask me. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but you’re not dealing with the chaos and noise that comes with staying right on top of it. I mean, you can still hear some street sounds – it’s Prague, after all – but nothing that’ll keep you up at night. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to duck into those little side streets for authentic Czech pubs that haven’t been completely overrun by tour groups yet. There’s this fantastic traditional restaurant called U Fleku just around the corner that most hotel guests seem to miss entirely.

The rooms themselves are clean and functional – definitely what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place. Nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are modern enough (though honestly a bit compact, which seems to be the Prague standard). The staff genuinely seemed to know their stuff about the city, which is refreshing. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner one night, the desk clerk didn’t just point me toward the metro – she actually suggested a specific tram route that turned out to be way more scenic and just as quick. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 2 PM because they seem to be dealing with housekeeping turnover right up until then. The 7.5 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away, but there’s nothing to complain about either, and for Prague, that’s actually saying something. If you’re the type who wants to spend your time exploring the city rather than hanging around your hotel, this place gets the job done without breaking the bank.

  The room was very clean and large, the amenities were great and plenty of space, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were very lucky to get a top floor room which had a little outdoor space which was lovely to look out of and the room was lovely and warm.
