I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Prague Star on Ve Smečkách, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s one of those buildings that blends into the Prague streetscape, but that actually turned out to be part of its charm. You’re literally in the heart of New Town here, which means you can stumble out the front door and be at Wenceslas Square in about three minutes on foot. I mean, you’re close enough to hear the trams rumbling by, but not so close that they’ll wake you up at 5 AM (trust me on this – I’ve stayed in places where that was definitely an issue).

What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know Prague, you know? The guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he marked up specific streets where I could find decent coffee that wasn’t tourist-trap expensive, and honestly, his recommendation for that little place near the National Museum was spot-on. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing groundbreaking, but the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-mattress backache, and the bathrooms actually have decent water pressure. There’s this slightly old-world feel to the decor that works without being cheesy about it. The Wi-Fi was reliable too, which matters if you’re trying to figure out Prague’s public transport system or book restaurant reservations.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to fully appreciate – Ve Smečkách puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close to all the major sights, but you’re also on a street that locals actually use. I watched people heading to work in the morning, not just other tourists with cameras. You can walk to Old Town Square if you want (it’s maybe 15 minutes), but you’re also near some genuinely good restaurants that don’t have English menus plastered outside. The area gets a bit lively on weekend evenings – not rowdy, just… alive. If you’re the type who needs absolute silence to sleep, maybe pack earplugs, but I found the street noise kind of comforting actually. Parking is typical Prague nightmare stuff, so if you’re driving, definitely sort that out with the hotel beforehand. But honestly, you won’t need a car – the metro station at Muzeum is close enough, and from there you can get anywhere in the city without much hassle. For what you’re paying and where you’re staying, the 8.5 rating makes sense. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’ll give you a solid base for exploring Prague without feeling like you’re staying in some soulless international chain.

  Great cozy hotel, wonderful stuff, clean and comfortable rooms. Daily room service. Outstanding breakfast served till 11 am. We will be back.

  What could be improved: We was put on the ground floor,the fridge was making a loud noise,which they did fix. But a very bright light,that came on around 5am every morning. TV not in English.

  Spacious room and bathroom, very quiet. Very polite and accommodating staff. Good breakfast with many options.

  Hoteli ishte i pozicionuar ne nje rruge te qete dhe lehtesisht te aksesueshme. Maksimumi 10 minuta nga zona e populluar dhe turistike e Prages, transport publik mund te arrije per 5-10 minuta. Dhoma ishte e bollshme dhe pastrohej shume mire cdo dite. Mengjesi kishte mundesi zgjedhje dhe orari i mengjesit ishte der ne oren 11:00 gje qe e bente shume relakuese te gjithe eksperiencen ne hotel. Check in dhe check out behej shume shpejt. Do te riktheheshim serish 🙂
  
  What could be improved: Frigoriferi i dhomes nuk kishte asnje shishe uji. Ashensori ishte shume i vogel dhe i avashte, ka nevoje per rinovim.

  My room was very comfortable , warm , clean and cute . It was very quiet in hotel.the staff was friendly and attentive.breakfast was very tasty and diverse.

  The hotel's location is perfect; all the tourist attractions are within a short walking distance. The room was very spacious, and the breakfast was excellent. Everything was very clean.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing I didn't like was that, in the photos used for booking, the room had a bathtub, but when I checked in, I was given a room without one.
  
  Another thing that could be improved is the variety of breakfast options. The coffee was excellent, but the selection was the same every day.

  What could be improved: The room had a view into an entrance to another building so there was no privacy. Breakfast was bellow average in our opinion: the coffee tasted really bad and watery, vegetables were stale and ham did not taste well. We wanted to discuss something with the reception but the receptionist did not speak English well and was unable to help us.
