Hotel Praga 1 Overview
You know what struck me first about Hotel Praga 1? It’s tucked right on Žitná Street, which honestly feels like you’ve stumbled onto one of those Prague addresses that locals actually use as landmarks. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Wenceslas Square, but without all that tourist chaos right outside your window. The building itself has that classic Central European thing going on – not trying too hard to be boutique-y, just solid and reassuring in the way four-star places should be.
The lobby’s got this warm, lived-in feel that immediately tells you this isn’t some cookie-cutter chain property. Actually, the whole place feels like it’s been thoughtfully updated without losing its Prague character, if that makes sense. The rooms are what I’d call properly comfortable – good beds (and I’m picky about mattresses), decent space to actually unpack your stuff, and bathrooms that work the way they’re supposed to. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, considering you’re smack in the city center. I guess being on a side street rather than one of the main drags really makes a difference. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood too – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab coffee in the morning or which tram gets you to the castle without the crowds.
Here’s the thing about the location that you won’t realize until you’re there: Žitná puts you in this sweet spot where you can walk to the New Town sights, but you’re also close enough to hop over to the Old Town or Lesser Town without planning your whole day around transit. I spent way less time on trams than I expected, which honestly saved both money and time. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re exploring a city all day and just want a reliable home base. Plus, there’s something to be said for staying somewhere that feels more like how locals might live, rather than those over-the-top historic hotels that are gorgeous but can feel like museums after a few days.

Reviews of Hotel Praga 1
Harizu from Malaysia – 3 May 2024 (9/10)
Breakfast was good it has the usual food. The room was great and spacious. Location is very close to Charles Square.
What could be improved: The toilet seat was broken. Let's just say it was the only problem I faced there.Garima from Italy – 31 March 2025 (8/10)
Reliable and comfortable stay: the room itself is great, spacious and the bed is very comfortable (not the soft kinds where you sink in, which is terrible for your back). The light in my bathroom was dim because the extra light over the sink wasn’t working. The shower space was also a bit restricted. The breakfast was one of the best provided at hotels- hot and cold items served and sweet and savoury, with healthy options – very tasty salad/greens included.

What could be improved: Very tiny shower cabin my partner and I could barely fit into itTigran from Russia – 14 March 2025 (8/10)
The location, the breakfast and the friendly staff
What could be improved: The shower door was broken, there was a bad smell in the lobby and the hall.Michelle from United States – 6 March 2025 (9/10)

Andreas from Cyprus – 7 February 2025 (8/10)
The breakfast although very good, could be better. The fruit salad is better than just offering fruits. Omelette, white cheese, ricotta etc
What could be improved: The water faucet in the shower was difficult to adjust hot cold, perhaps the water pressure pump was not properly working, very small areaNicola from United Kingdom – 17 December 2024 (8/10)
The room was big, nice and clean. The breakfast was good. The orange juice was tasty. The staff were helpful.
What could be improved: The smell in the corridor. Like dirty clothsNorman from United States – 7 October 2024 (8/10)
Clean neat hotel in a good location. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast!!
What could be improved: We like most everything except the shower. The water temperature went up and down quite a bit. Also the shower is quite small, making it hard to not bump into the faucet.Colm from Ireland – 4 August 2024 (9/10)
I liked the fact that the staff were helpful. They advised me where to go.
Christopher from United Kingdom – 30 July 2024 (8/10)
An early check in was allowed even though we didn't pay for it.
What could be improved: The fridge in the room wasn't the coldest.
