Hotel Pivovar Overview

You know what? Hotel Pivovar totally caught me off guard. I mean, when you see “3-star hotel” you’re not exactly expecting much, but this place in Prague’s Libeň district actually delivers way more than you’d think. The moment I walked into the lobby, there’s this subtle malty smell in the air – turns out “pivovar” means brewery in Czech, and they’ve really leaned into that theme without making it cheesy.

The location on Freyova street is honestly perfect if you want to experience Prague like locals do rather than getting stuck in the tourist bubble around Old Town. You’re maybe a 15-minute tram ride from Wenceslas Square, but here’s the thing – you’re surrounded by authentic Czech pubs and those little corner shops where old ladies buy their groceries. There’s this fantastic traditional restaurant called U Houbaře just two blocks away that I never would’ve found if I’d stayed in the city center. The tram stop is literally a three-minute walk, and parking (if you’re driving) is actually possible here, unlike downtown where you’ll spend half your vacation budget on garage fees.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about making your stay work. Check-in was smooth, and the guy at reception – I think his name was Pavel – gave me this hand-drawn map with his personal recommendations, including a bakery that opens at 5 AM for the best rohlíky in the neighborhood. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). The beds are firm, which I personally love, and the windows actually open properly for fresh air. Fair warning though – it can get a bit lively on weekend nights since there are a few local bars nearby, but honestly the sound didn’t bother me much, and it died down by midnight.

The breakfast spread is solid Czech fare – proper bread, local cheeses, and coffee that’s actually drinkable. They serve until 10 AM on weekdays, 11 on weekends, which gives you flexibility without rushing. I spent most mornings sitting in their little courtyard area (weather permitting) planning my day while locals walked by heading to work. There’s something really grounding about that rhythm when you’re traveling.

Here’s why I’d go back – Hotel Pivovar sits in that sweet spot where you get genuine local flavor without sacrificing comfort or convenience. The 8.4 rating makes total sense once you stay there; it’s not trying to be luxury, it’s just doing everything well at a fair price. Plus, being in Libeň means you’re close to some of Prague’s coolest emerging neighborhoods without the inflated tourist prices. If you want Instagram-perfect marble lobbies, look elsewhere. But if you want to actually experience Prague while having a reliable, comfortable base to return to each night, this place gets it right.

    And very helpfull stuff

What could be improved: Small room

  • Very good – Martyna from Poland – 6 July 2025 (8/10)

Close to the o2 arena! Good beer and very nice breakfast!!
Very good value for the money

What could be improved: Small windows and no aircon

  • Great budget friendly hotel – Jasmina from Slovenia – 19 June 2025 (9/10)

Although the hotel isn’t located near the city centre, the Metro station is just a 5-minute walk away, and it gets you to the centre in about 10 minutes. The breakfast is plentiful. The beds were nice.

What could be improved: There was no air-con in the room

  • Nice hotel outside city center 😊👍 – Talya from Israel – 2 June 2025 (8/10)

The room was clean, spacious, and quiet. A delightful breakfast was provided with many options. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The location was ideal for our purposes. A convenient shopping center is nearby.

What could be improved: During our first night, we unfortunately lacked hot water in our room, but the staff kindly assisted by allowing us to shower elsewhere, explaining that all other rooms were occupied and a room change wasn't possible. The following day, we had hot water, however, it appeared that the hot water system struggled under the pressure of high guest occupancy.

  • Great place if you attend concerts in O2 and not too far from centre of the city with good transport – Ģirts from Latvia – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

bed, breakfast, location, room in general, terrace

What could be improved: could hear people moving around the room

  • Superb – Sanjith from India – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

    Reception staff

What could be improved: No extra glasses for drinking

  • Superb – Ivana from Croatia – 9 January 2025 (9/10)

The rooms were spacious, warm and very clean. The breakfast was varied and tasty. The location is great because the metro and tram are 500 meters from the hotel.
The hotel parking lot is currently under reconstruction, and street parking is very expensive (approx. €28 per day). There is a public garage near the metro station (500 meters) where daily parking is about €10, so I recommend parking there.

What could be improved: Sound insulation of the ceiling is bad. Above us was a family with many children. They woke us up every morning before 7 because they were running around a lot. It would be good to accommodate parents with smaller children on the ground floor if possible.

  • Superb – Michaela from Slovakia – 29 December 2024 (9/10)

The hotel has great location, 2 minutes walk to the metro station. Parking w/o problem. Very good breakfast. Greal value for money, recommended for short stay in Prague.

  • Really enjoyed the stay – Natalia from Poland – 17 November 2024 (9/10)

Very clean, comfortable bed, good breakfast

What could be improved: Wish there was a kettle in the room

  • Good value for money with helpful staff. – Lara from Canada – 11 October 2024 (9/10)

Nice staff, good breakfast, clean room. Location good for the nearby conference centre and easy to get to the old town via the metro.
