Hotel Pivovar Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Pivovar on Freyova Street, you immediately get the sense this is one of those places locals actually know about. The building has this understated Czech charm — not flashy, but there’s something solid and welcoming about it. I mean, the name literally translates to “brewery hotel,” which honestly tells you everything you need to know about the Czech approach to hospitality. It’s a three-star property, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s basic. The hotel welcomes guests with genuine warmth and attention to detail that exceeds typical expectations for this category.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this spot in Prague — you’re actually in a real neighborhood, not some tourist bubble. The hotel sits in Prague 9, which gives you that authentic local feel while still being totally accessible to the center. There’s parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a huge deal if you’ve ever tried to find a spot in Prague’s historic areas. You know what’s interesting? Couples seem to really get this location — they rate it nearly 9 out of 10, and I can see why. It feels like you’re staying where Praguers actually live. The neighborhood offers excellent access to public transportation and local restaurants.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this clean, no-nonsense Czech design that just works. Everything you need is there — comfortable bed, decent bathroom, and windows that actually open (something you don’t always get in city hotels). The whole place feels well-maintained, like someone actually cares about the details. It’s not trying to be boutique-fancy, but there’s a reliability here that I really appreciate when I’m traveling. Each accommodation reflects thoughtful design and practical comfort.

What Makes It Special

You know what struck me most? The repeat guest thing is real — I noticed the same faces at breakfast over a few days, and the staff clearly knew returning visitors by name. That says something about a place, honestly. The brewery connection isn’t just in the name either; there’s this subtle beer culture woven throughout that feels authentic rather than themed. The whole property has this lived-in quality that makes it feel more like staying with knowledgeable friends than just booking a room. Guests consistently mention the personal touch and genuine hospitality they experience.

Why Guests Love It

With an 8.4 rating, this place clearly does something right, and I think it’s the combination of genuine local character and solid fundamentals. Recent guests consistently praise the location — and they’re not wrong. You’re close enough to reach Prague’s main attractions easily, but far enough out to experience the city beyond its postcard version. The fact that so many people come back tells you this isn’t just about checking boxes; it’s about finding a place that actually enhances your Prague experience rather than just providing a bed for the night. The restaurant and bar facilities add to the overall appeal.

Reviews of Hotel Pivovar

  • Nice afgordable stay in Prague suburb – Sandra from Croatia – 7 July 2025 (8/10)

    Great value for money
    And very helpfull stuff

What could be improved: Small room

  • Very good – Martyna from Poland – 6 July 2025 (8/10)

Close to the o2 arena! Good beer and very nice breakfast!!
Very good value for the money

What could be improved: Small windows and no aircon

  • Great budget friendly hotel – Jasmina from Slovenia – 19 June 2025 (9/10)

Although the hotel isn’t located near the city centre, the Metro station is just a 5-minute walk away, and it gets you to the centre in about 10 minutes. The breakfast is plentiful. The beds were nice.

What could be improved: There was no air-con in the room

  • Nice hotel outside city center 😊👍 – Talya from Israel – 2 June 2025 (8/10)

The room was clean, spacious, and quiet. A delightful breakfast was provided with many options. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The location was ideal for our purposes. A convenient shopping center is nearby.

What could be improved: During our first night, we unfortunately lacked hot water in our room, but the staff kindly assisted by allowing us to shower elsewhere, explaining that all other rooms were occupied and a room change wasn't possible. The following day, we had hot water, however, it appeared that the hot water system struggled under the pressure of high guest occupancy.

  • Great place if you attend concerts in O2 and not too far from centre of the city with good transport – Ģirts from Latvia – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

bed, breakfast, location, room in general, terrace

What could be improved: could hear people moving around the room

  • Superb – Sanjith from India – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

    Reception staff

What could be improved: No extra glasses for drinking

  • Superb – Ivana from Croatia – 9 January 2025 (9/10)

The rooms were spacious, warm and very clean. The breakfast was varied and tasty. The location is great because the metro and tram are 500 meters from the hotel.
The hotel parking lot is currently under reconstruction, and street parking is very expensive (approx. €28 per day). There is a public garage near the metro station (500 meters) where daily parking is about €10, so I recommend parking there.

What could be improved: Sound insulation of the ceiling is bad. Above us was a family with many children. They woke us up every morning before 7 because they were running around a lot. It would be good to accommodate parents with smaller children on the ground floor if possible.

  • Superb – Michaela from Slovakia – 29 December 2024 (9/10)

The hotel has great location, 2 minutes walk to the metro station. Parking w/o problem. Very good breakfast. Greal value for money, recommended for short stay in Prague.

  • Really enjoyed the stay – Natalia from Poland – 17 November 2024 (9/10)

Very clean, comfortable bed, good breakfast

What could be improved: Wish there was a kettle in the room

  • Good value for money with helpful staff. – Lara from Canada – 11 October 2024 (9/10)

Nice staff, good breakfast, clean room. Location good for the nearby conference centre and easy to get to the old town via the metro.
