Hotel Otar Overview

Honestly, Hotel Otar caught me off guard – and I mean that in a good way. Walking up to this unassuming three-star on Sevřená street, you might wonder if you’ve got the right place. The building blends into Prague’s residential fabric so naturally that I actually walked past it twice before spotting the discrete signage. But that’s sort of the charm here – you’re staying in a real neighborhood, not some touristy bubble.

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure it out. You’re in Prague 4, which sounds far from everything until you realize the metro connections are solid and you can get to Old Town in about 20 minutes without the crazy crowds camping outside your door at 7 AM. The street itself is quiet – like, genuinely quiet, not Prague-tourist-zone “quiet” where you still hear drunk bachelor parties stumbling around until 3 AM. I slept better here than at fancier places in Malá Strana, if I’m being honest. There’s a little grocery store about two blocks down that becomes your best friend, and the locals at the corner café (well, it’s more of a bar that serves decent coffee) actually seemed happy to help with directions instead of that barely-contained eye roll you get in the city center.

The hotel itself has that comfortable, slightly worn-in feeling – think your favorite jeans, not shabby but definitely lived-in. The rooms are clean and functional without trying too hard to impress anyone. My shower had proper water pressure, which is honestly more than I can say for some four-star places I’ve stayed in Prague. The breakfast is… well, it’s Continental breakfast, you know what you’re getting. But the woman running it in the mornings (I think she might be the owner’s wife?) remembers how you like your coffee after the second day, which is a nice touch. The 7.4 rating makes sense – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it won’t disappoint you either. You get exactly what you pay for, maybe a little more because of that neighborhood authenticity you can’t fake. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re actually staying in Prague rather than just visiting it, Hotel Otar delivers on that front.

Reviews of Hotel Otar

  • Good – Tawnny from Czech Republic – 17 May 2025 (7/10)

The hotel is old and located in a residential area of Prague, but it’s close to a shopping mall and the red metro line. For those familiar with the city, it’s very easy to get around. For tourists, it might feel a bit farther out, but still accessible. The room was spacious and very clean, check-in was smooth. worth it for the price.

  • Very good – Ershuai from New Zealand – 11 May 2025 (8/10)

Location, handy to metro and tram, a Chinese restaurant and a cafe nearby, lift, clean, bathroom and toilet, room size is OK.

What could be improved: No kettle, no hot water for drink.

  • Very good – John from United Kingdom – 2 December 2024 (8/10)

Good size, clean room with comfortable bed. Good value for money.

What could be improved: Had to go to another hotel close by to check in, a little inconvenient and confusing after a late flight.

  • Pleasant stay – Yana from Bulgaria – 18 August 2024 (8/10)

The location is great- 3 minutes away from the metro station of line B. It was clean and they offered us cleaning every day. There are stores and restaurants nearby and it is a good value for money.

What could be improved: Sometimes we needed to wait a lot until the warm water came for the shower. It would also be nice to have those signs that say do not disturb because we usually returned in the afternoon when it was time for cleaning and we wanted to rest at that time.
Also it would be good to have at least 2 of the keys and the cards since my partner and I had different activities in the morning and went back to the hotel at different times.

  • Very good – Loh from France – 30 April 2024 (8/10)

    We enjoy the TV

What could be improved: Have construction site nearby, but it's not the hotel's fault.

  • Good value for that money – Stevan from Serbia – 24 February 2024 (8/10)

    All perfect

    What could be improved: Nada

  • Great hotel , clean and very comfortable beds , enjoyed stay but no electric kettle in the room – Aktoty from Netherlands – 10 August 2023 (7/10)

  • Nice hotel in the 4th – Oluwatosin from Austria – 10 August 2023 (8/10)

Nice big room, lovely staff and good quality internet.

What could be improved: It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room.

  • Pleasant – Mikhail from Poland – 5 March 2023 (6/10)

Great location, clean and comfortable room for very low price

What could be improved: Very difficult to find; receptionist sits in other hotel, for everything need to go there, Otar saves on own receptionist and wastes guests' time
