Hotel Otar

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Sevřená 1302/2, Prague, 14000, Czech Republic

Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Otar on Sevřená street, you immediately get the sense this is one of those places locals actually know about. It’s a solid three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well in Prague. The building has that understated Czech charm, tucked away just enough to feel like you’ve discovered something, but close enough to everything that matters.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s what I love about where this place sits — you’re in Prague 4, which means you get that authentic neighborhood feel without being stuck in the tourist chaos of Old Town. The metro connections are solid, and you can actually walk to some really great local spots that most visitors never find. I mean, couples are rating the location 8.4 out of 10, and that’s not just because it’s pretty — it’s because you can actually live like a person here, not just a tourist passing through.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. Nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is honestly more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve been. The beds are actually comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss that can be), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The bathrooms are modern enough, with good water pressure — those little things that matter when you’re trying to start your day right.

Practical Perks

One thing that really sets Hotel Otar apart is the private parking situation. If you’re driving in Prague — which, let’s be honest, can be a bit of an adventure — having a guaranteed spot is huge. Most places in the city either don’t have parking at all or charge you an arm and a leg for it. The staff here actually seems to care about making your stay work, not just checking you in and disappearing. They’ll give you real directions, not just point vaguely toward the tourist areas.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back here isn’t any single flashy feature — it’s that everything just works the way it should. Recent guests are rating it 8.3 for location, which tells you something about how well-positioned this place really is. You’re close enough to catch the tram into the center whenever you want, but far enough out that you can grab dinner at a neighborhood restaurant where the menu isn’t translated into six languages. It’s Prague as people actually live it, not just the postcard version. For the price point, you’re getting honest value and a genuine sense of place — which, honestly, is getting harder to find these days.

Good

The hotel is old and located in a residential area of Prague, but it’s close to a shopping mall and the red metro line. For those familiar with the city, it’s very easy to get around. For tourists, it might feel a bit farther out, but still accessible. The room was spacious and very clean, check-in was smooth. worth it for the price.

Very good

Location, handy to metro and tram, a Chinese restaurant and a cafe nearby, lift, clean, bathroom and toilet, room size is OK.

What could be improved: No kettle, no hot water for drink.

Very good

Good size, clean room with comfortable bed. Good value for money.

What could be improved: Had to go to another hotel close by to check in, a little inconvenient and confusing after a late flight.
