Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Orion? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet stretch of Americka street that most tourists completely miss – which is honestly part of its charm. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but the street itself feels refreshingly calm, especially at night when the main tourist areas are still buzzing. The building has this understated elegance that fits Prague perfectly – not trying too hard to be flashy, just solid and welcoming. Check-in was smooth (they actually speak excellent English, which isn’t always a given), and the lobby has these comfortable chairs where I saw guests lingering with coffee, which is usually a good sign.

The rooms are what really won me over though. I stayed on the fourth floor, and honestly, the space felt more generous than most European city hotels – you can actually open your suitcase without doing some weird furniture tetris game. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. What I really appreciated were the little details that show someone’s thinking about actual travelers: proper reading lights, enough outlets near the bed, and blackout curtains that actually work. The WiFi was solid throughout my stay, which matters when you’re trying to figure out tram routes or book dinner reservations. One small thing – the elevator is a bit slow, but it’s one of those old-school European lifts that’s kind of charming, and honestly, the stairs aren’t bad if you’re in a hurry.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to the major sights but also stumble onto some great local spots. There’s this excellent coffee place called Café Louvre just a few blocks away (apparently Kafka used to hang out there), and you’re close enough to the river that an evening walk along the Vltava becomes part of your routine. The Muzeum metro station is maybe three minutes away, so getting around the city is actually easier than from some of the hotels right in Old Town – and you’ll pay way less than those places charging premium rates for being in the absolute center. Parking can be tricky around here (like most of Prague), but the hotel staff were helpful with suggestions. The neighborhood gets quiet after dinner time, which I loved – you get a proper night’s sleep without constant street noise, but you’re not stuck in some sterile business district either. For a 4-star place with a 9.2 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for without any unpleasant surprises.

Hotels in Prague offer guests the perfect blend of Gothic grandeur and modern comfort, with many featuring traditional Czech beer concierge services and medieval architecture to enhance the authentic Central European cultural experience.

Reviews

  • Alexandru from Romania – 26 December 2024 (10/10)

The location was very good positioned, very clean, very good choice for families with babies…all personnel was attentive and the owner was very invested in providing the best support and services…very good family like location in a quite part of the town…however minutes away from metro station and from all objectives
The room size was big and proper for family with kids. Moreover the property kept several toys for the kid in the room upon arrival.

What could be improved: Was nothing to dislike

  • James from Canada – 15 March 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: No complaints

  • Ieva from Germany – 11 March 2025 (10/10)

Very friendly staff, delicious breakfast, comfortable and clean apartment, free cot and even a toy box for kids!

What could be improved: All good!

  • Patricia from Germany – 10 March 2025 (9/10)

beautiful hotel in great area of town. fantastic view from our top floor room. the receptionists andrei and danil were super-helpful. breakfast was delicious. we’ll be back!

  • David from United Kingdom – 25 February 2025 (9/10)

Very good kitchen, cosy sitting room and well laid out bedroom with 2 seats for the TV (which we didn't use)

What could be improved: Difficult to get into and out of the shower.
Lighting could have been better. (e.g. The dressing table in the bedroom would have made a good working space but there was no lamp there.)
No hooks, or perhaps a small stool, for clothes in the bathroom.
The wardrobe provided a lot of hanging space but very few hangers!

  • Douglas from Australia – 28 January 2025 (8/10)

breakfast was delicious, we had enough space in the room

What could be improved: The floor creaked in our rooms and at the neighbours, so, heard all steps.
The central heating was not really good, had to use the air conditioner.
spare blanket would have been useful.

  • Alexey from Ukraine – 18 January 2025 (10/10)

Really nice place to stay, staff was friendly, nice breakfast with many options

  • Audra from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (9/10)

    Nice clean hotel good breakfast.

What could be improved: We were on the top floor and every floor board was very loud.

  • Rita from Kosovo – 30 December 2024 (10/10)

    Our stay here was excellent!
The place I stay when I travel plays a pivotal role in the overall memory of the trip. And I am thankful Hotel Orion is now part of my good travel memories.

The apartment super clean and huge.
Kitchen was big, clean and packed with everything you might need.
I absolutely adored the interior style with white doors and high ceilings. It makes you feel like you are traveling back in time.
Breakfast was very delicious and had different food variety every day. For me it is fundamental to be clean. All the ladies working in the kitchen did a very very good job on keeping the food refilled, clean, organized and everything else.
Staff was friendly and available at every time.
    10/10 would recommend!!

What could be improved: Not a single thing that I didn’t like!

  • Julija from United Kingdom – 26 December 2024 (10/10)

Very friendly and helpful staff, great view from the apartment (top floor), comfortable bed, hot water and spotless clean throughout. Very good location- near metro and shops.

What could be improved: The only thing that could be improved is sharp/new knives in the kitchen and could do with some condiments like cooking oil etc (but really thankful for salt, pepper and coffee ❤️)
