Hotel Description
So Hotel Opera – honestly, the name had me expecting something a bit stuffy and old-fashioned, but this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked right into Tesnov, which I’ll admit isn’t the postcard-pretty part of Prague most tourists think of first, but that’s exactly why it works. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the main train station (Hlavní nádraží), which sounds terrible until you realize how stupidly convenient it makes everything. I mean, you can grab the metro anywhere in the city, or hop those reliable buses to the airport without dealing with the chaos of staying right in Old Town.
The hotel itself feels like someone took a classic European property and gave it just enough modern touches without ruining the character. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance – not the sterile marble-and-chrome thing you see everywhere. My room was bigger than I expected for a 4-star in Prague, with actual space to open your suitcase without playing furniture Tetris. The beds are properly comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss European hotel beds can be), and the bathrooms are updated enough that you’re not wrestling with ancient plumbing. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing – Prague can get surprisingly noisy, especially with all the tram lines, but once you close the windows, it’s genuinely quiet.
Here’s what locals probably won’t tell you: staying in Tesnov means you’re close to some excellent non-touristy restaurants along Pobřežní street, and there’s this fantastic little market area that’s perfect for grabbing actual groceries instead of overpriced hotel snacks. The staff at Opera seem to get this – they’re not just pushing the standard Charles Bridge recommendations but actually know the neighborhood. Check-in was smooth (they speak solid English, which helps), and they sorted out my late arrival without any drama. The 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what you want: a solid, comfortable base that doesn’t eat your entire travel budget. If you’re the type who’d rather spend money on good dinners and experiences instead of paying premium rates to sleep thirty meters closer to the astronomical clock, this makes a lot of sense.

When in Prague Hotel Opera is where I stay. Satisfied 100% every time. No reason to experiment.

Good breakfast, excellent, very inexpensive restaurant.
What could be improved: I was disappointed in the parking. No garage. I paid 18€ cash per day to park on the street.Sara from Serbia – 8 February 2025 (9/10)
I liked how accomodating the staff was from the get-go. The location is perfect because it's close to the main station and the first beautiful landmark is 3 minutes away; public transport spots are also very close. The room had everything one might need, and it's quite clean. Bonus points for aesthetics of the hotel!
What could be improved: The only big thing I didn't like is that breakfast ends too early (earlier than most hotels I've visited). The restaurant for lunch and dinner is nice, and the only complaint I had, which may be odd, is that they play ~really~ sad songs. As for the rooms, shower curtains have two layers which makes them heavy, and this is not pleasant when the curtain "sticks" to you, which it does. While I didn't like these things, these are just minor details and suggestions for improvement.Francoise from Canada – 10 January 2025 (9/10)
The location was great, the hotel itself is great, and clean and quiet.

What could be improved: It is too bad there is no kettle in the room. It would be nice.Ina from Canada – 7 January 2025 (9/10)
