You know what struck me first about Hotel Metamorphis? The location is honestly perfect – like, whoever picked this spot on Týn street really knew what they were doing. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Old Town Square (I mean, you can practically hear the astronomical clock chiming), but here’s the thing – you’re tucked away just enough that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups that plague some of the hotels right on the square itself. I actually stumbled across this place last spring, and even though it’s got four stars, it feels more intimate than those big chain hotels that dominate Prague’s hotel scene.

The building itself has this really lovely restored feel – you can tell they put actual thought into preserving the character instead of just gutting everything and starting over. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern, if that makes sense. Not trying too hard to be trendy, but they’ve got everything you actually need (good WiFi, decent shower pressure, blackout curtains that actually work). Honestly, the beds are surprisingly comfortable – I’m picky about mattresses and usually end up with a sore back, but not here. The staff seems to genuinely know Prague well too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner one night, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the tourist restaurants – he actually gave me a couple local spots that ended up being fantastic.

What really sells me on this place, though, is how it sits in the city. You’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters (Wenceslas Square is maybe ten minutes on foot, the Jewish Quarter even closer), but Týn street itself stays pretty quiet at night. I’ve stayed in Prague hotels where you’re basically listening to drunk tourists until 3 AM – not an issue here. The 8.6 rating feels about right, actually. It’s not going to blow your mind with over-the-top luxury, but it gets all the important stuff right without any of those annoying little compromises that can ruin a trip. Parking can be tricky in this part of Old Town – well, parking’s tricky everywhere in Prague’s center – but they’ll help you figure out the nearest options if you’re driving. I’d definitely come back, which honestly says more than any fancy amenities list ever could.
