Hotel Melantrich Old Town Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Melantrich Old Town, you immediately sense you’ve found something special in the heart of Prague. This three-star property sits right on Melantrichova Street, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally steps away from Old Town Square. The building itself has that classic Prague charm without being overly touristy, which is actually harder to find than you’d think in this part of the city. The hotel’s position on this historic street makes it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding attractions.
The Perfect Prague Location
Here’s what makes staying here special — you can walk to practically everything that matters. The Astronomical Clock is maybe a two-minute stroll, and that means you can return to your room between sightseeing without it being a whole production. Couples appreciate this location tremendously (they rate it 9.8, which makes perfect sense), but it works for anyone who wants to be in the thick of things. The narrow cobblestone streets around the hotel are quintessentially Prague, and you’ll find yourself wandering them just because they’re so atmospheric. Being steps from major landmarks saves considerable time during your visit.
What to Expect from Your Stay
The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed — exactly what you want from a well-run three-star establishment. Everything’s clean and functional, and the beds are quite good (many pricier Prague hotels have inferior mattresses). The staff knows the area inside and out, so don’t hesitate to ask them about the best times to visit major attractions or where locals actually eat. They’re genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions. Each room is thoughtfully designed for guest comfort.
Morning Fuel
The buffet breakfast here is solid — nothing revolutionary, but it’ll definitely set you up for a day of walking around Prague’s hills and cobblestones. You get the usual European breakfast spread, and the coffee’s decent enough that you won’t immediately need to hunt down a café (though there are plenty of great ones nearby if that’s your thing). The breakfast room has a nice view of the street, so you can watch Prague wake up while you plan your day. The morning meal provides excellent value and quality.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel nails what most Prague visitors actually need — a comfortable base in an unbeatable location. You’re paying for that prime Old Town spot, and it’s worth every crown when you realize you can walk back for a quick rest or drop off shopping bags without losing half your day to transportation. The 8.3 rating reflects exactly what this place is: reliable, well-located, and honest about what it offers. For exploring Prague’s historic center, you really can’t ask for a better starting point. The hotel consistently delivers on its promises to guests.

The location is perfect (we have been to Prague many times and can attest). We were also amazed with how quiet the room was, with it being so central.
