Hotel Description
So I’ve stayed at Hotel Lunik a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s become my go-to spot in Prague – which is saying something because this city has no shortage of places to crash. The thing about Lunik is that it sits on Londýnská street in Vinohrady, and if you don’t know Prague well, that might not mean much to you. But here’s the deal: you’re in this gorgeous residential neighborhood that feels authentically Czech, not like the tourist bubble around Old Town Square.
The hotel itself is properly Czech in the best way – it’s got that solid, unpretentious vibe that I actually prefer over some of the flashier places downtown. The lobby smells faintly of coffee and has this lived-in feeling that makes you think real people work here, not hospitality robots. Check-in is usually smooth (though I’d avoid arriving during the 3-4 PM rush when everyone’s trying to get their keys). The rooms are clean and comfortable – not Instagram-gorgeous, but you know what? The beds are actually good, the WiFi works, and the windows open properly for fresh air. That last bit matters more than you’d think, especially in summer when some of the older Prague hotels turn into saunas.
What really sells me on this place is the location, though. You’re maybe a 15-minute walk to Náměstí Míru (Peace Square), which has this beautiful church and some excellent cafés that tourists haven’t discovered yet. The metro’s close enough that getting into the center is easy, but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk stag parties stumbling past your window at 2 AM – trust me, that’s a real consideration in Prague. There’s a Tesco nearby for grabbing supplies, and honestly, just wandering the tree-lined streets around the hotel gives you a better feel for how Praguers actually live than staying in Malá Strana ever will. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the castle district is beautiful, but it’s also crawling with tour groups taking photos of everything.
The staff at Lunik seems to genuinely care about doing their jobs well, which – look, I’ve traveled enough to know that’s not always a given at three-star places. They’ll actually give you proper directions instead of just pointing vaguely toward the city center. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s Prague, so that’s par for the course), but they’ll help you figure it out. The breakfast is solid Czech fare – nothing fancy, but it’ll fuel you up for a day of walking around the city’s cobblestone streets without breaking the bank.
Here’s the thing: Hotel Lunik isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a well-run neighborhood hotel that happens to be in one of Prague’s most liveable districts. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re actually getting – reliable comfort, helpful service, and a location that lets you experience Prague like less of a tourist and more like a temporary resident. If you’re the type who needs a rooftop bar and marble bathrooms, look elsewhere. But if you want a genuine base for exploring an incredible city? This place gets it right.

Fantastic breakfast—best we’ve enjoyed traveling. Room was at the back of the hotel and there’s noise and some smells from the restaurant across in the courtyard—try staying on the street side.
