Hotel Liberty

Prague, Czech Republic
ul. 28. října 11/376, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Liberty? I was expecting another cookie-cutter business hotel in Prague’s New Town, but this place actually has some personality. It’s tucked right on 28. října street – which honestly sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Czech, but locals just call it “the main drag” that connects everything important. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, and I mean actually five minutes, not that inflated hotel math where everything is “just minutes away.”

The building itself has this sort of understated elegance that works really well. I stayed there during shoulder season in October (fitting, right, since the street name translates to October 28th), and the lobby had this warm, lived-in feeling – dark wood, comfortable seating that people actually use, not just for show. The staff behind the front desk were genuinely helpful, which isn’t always a given in Prague’s busier areas. They helped me figure out the tram system without making me feel like a complete tourist disaster. Check-in was smooth, though I’d suggest avoiding late Sunday arrivals since they seemed a bit short-staffed then.

Here’s what I really appreciated – the rooms are quiet. I mean, you’re on a fairly busy street with trams running regularly, but somehow you don’t really hear them once you’re inside. The windows must be decent quality because I’m usually a light sleeper and had no issues. The bathroom was properly modern without being sterile, and honestly, after walking around Prague’s cobblestones all day, that rainfall shower was perfect. Little touches like good lighting for actually reading in bed and enough outlets for your devices – stuff that matters when you’re trying to plan your next day or just decompress. The WiFi worked well throughout the building, which isn’t always guaranteed in these older Prague buildings.

Location-wise, you’re really well positioned here. Národní Street is right there with all those great traditional pubs, and if you’re into the whole Prague Castle thing (which, come on, you probably are), the walk isn’t bad at all. What I loved was being close enough to the action but not right in the thick of the Old Town tourist chaos. You can actually get a decent breakfast nearby without paying tourist prices – there’s this little café about two blocks down that locals actually use. The hotel’s breakfast was solid too, nothing revolutionary but proper coffee and fresh pastries, which is all I really need to start exploring.

With a 9.1 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you that sense of place that makes you remember why you wanted to visit Prague in the first place. If you’re looking for something that feels more authentic than those big chain hotels near the castle but still want modern comforts and a professional operation, Hotel Liberty hits that sweet spot perfectly.

The location was ideal for walking to so many of the sights. The bed was really comfortable and breakfast was good with plenty of options.

What could be improved: There were a couple of occasions where we popped back to use the facilities and were challenged by the front desk. I realise people may come in off the streets to do so but maybe a bit more tact when questioning if they are residents

Location was perfect. Safe area. It was clean through out. Breakfast was fantastic with so much to choose from. And as much Cava as you can drink! We even had a room upgrade.
The young girl at breakfast did not stop she worked really hard and deserves some credit.

What could be improved: 🤔 Nothing
