Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Klarinn Prague Castle? It’s tucked away on this quiet cobblestone street – U Železné lávky – that most tourists walk right past without noticing. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Charles Bridge, but somehow it feels like you’ve escaped all that chaos. The building itself has this understated elegance thing going on – not trying too hard to be fancy, but you can tell someone put thought into the details. The lobby’s got these rich wood accents and soft lighting that actually makes you want to linger instead of just rushing to your room.

What really works here is the location, honestly. You can walk to Prague Castle in about fifteen minutes (hence the name), but here’s the thing locals know – take the back streets through Kampa Island instead of following the tourist hordes up Nerudova Street. Way more pleasant, and you’ll stumble across these little cafés that aren’t packed with selfie sticks. The rooms are solid – nothing groundbreaking, but the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. I stayed on the third floor and could hear the trams occasionally, but it’s more of a gentle urban lullaby than anything disruptive. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They pointed me toward this little wine bar around the corner on Kampa that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Look, it’s a 4-star place with a 7.3 rating, which tells you something – it’s good, not perfect, but good in ways that matter. The breakfast spread is decent (though skip the scrambled eggs and go for the local pastries), and there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t oversell itself. No grand marble lobby or doormen in ridiculous uniforms, just a well-run place that gets the fundamentals right. If you’re the type who wants to actually experience Prague instead of just Instagram it, this works. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from Wenceslas Square that you won’t be stepping over drunk backpackers at 2 AM. Plus, parking is available – and trust me, if you’re driving in Prague, that’s worth its weight in gold.

Reviews

  • Angela from United States – 22 May 2023 (8/10)

We loved the rooms. So beautiful and cozy. We felt like we were staying in a castle.

What could be improved: It was hard to shower in the tub and it was hard to carry our luggage up the steps. However, the beauty and quint hotel made up for it

  • David from United Kingdom – 29 March 2025 (8/10)

Ideally located for all transportation. Just the right distance from all the sights and city centre.

  • Gabriel from Netherlands – 20 December 2024 (8/10)

Excellent room, no further comments on that. Breakfast is good, but limited options, maybe it worths the price. The hotel has no other amenities but the room and the restaurant, as I could see. Anyway, I loved my stay and totally recommend it to everyone who's visiting Praga. Depending on the price, I may be back everytime I travel back to Prague.

What could be improved: Nothing to add here. It meets my expectations, it's a perfect location and very comfortable.

  • Rina from United Kingdom – 19 December 2024 (6/10)

Great location within easy walk of Christmas Market in Old Town and close to metro.
Hotel room was clean and beds were comfortable .
Hotel reception was manned from morning until night and staff were very helpful.
I would recommend this Hotel , despite the few shortfalls as it was pleasant enough and within easy reach of the airport by public transport

What could be improved: The hotel was advertised as providing a view of the castle. Being in room 13, the view was mainly a brick wall. Disappointing, but would have been more acceptable if room was cheaper.
Shower holder was broken, so if shower was switched on to maximum pressure, the shower head was able to move freely and spray outside the cubicle. Water temperature was variable so more often than not, the water was not hot (only warm).
Bqse of toilet bowl was stained brown (so unpleasant to see, even though it was clean)

  • Fay from United Kingdom – 25 November 2024 (6/10)

Liked the design of the room and the location

What could be improved: No plug for the bath despite asking multiple times it never came and wasn't said why

  • M from Canada – 15 October 2024 (8/10)

Loved the room— view and location amazing— (very handy to tram) and all the sights—staff were friendly and helpful— tub was great

What could be improved: Breakfast was so-so— bread did not seem fresh… coffee was just okay…. Better options close by though

  • Helge from Spain – 19 September 2024 (8/10)

Very well located and quiet Old Europe style hotel. Personal very helpful.

What could be improved: There's an elevator, but people should know that there are many stairs to climb to get to reception and in between the different floors connecting from the elevator.

  • Gabby from United Kingdom – 29 August 2024 (8/10)

Lovely property with lots of character in a great location. Helpful staff too.

  • Radu from Belgium – 27 August 2024 (8/10)

Best of all is the looks of the room, really stylish and nicely arranged. The position is also excellent, within very short walking distance of anything that matters in the city. The parking out front is very useful too. Although in a noisy area, the windows are good, so the amount of noise is small, although the street is still quite present. The 2 bedrooms are perfect for a family.

What could be improved: Breakfast was disappointing, to say the least. Poor range of options, undercooked eggs, spoiled milk and in general in an uninspiring place, in the basement. It would be better to not have it at all and get breakfast in one of the many other places nearby.

The air-conditioning didn't help much with the summer heat outside, as the device seemed well under-sized and also didn't seem to work at full capacity.

  • Mehdizadeh from Iran – 13 August 2024 (8/10)

    Nice place

What could be improved: No toothbrush
