Hotel KINGS COURT

Prague, Czech Republic
U Obecniho Domu 3, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of fancy hotels in Prague, but Hotel Kings Court actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. When you walk up to U Obecniho Domu 3, you’re literally around the corner from the Municipal House – I mean, you can hear the classical concerts drifting out on summer evenings, which is honestly pretty magical. The location hit me immediately because most tourists are fighting crowds on Wenceslas Square, but you’re tucked into this quieter pocket of Old Town where locals actually grab their morning coffee.

The building itself has that restored Habsburg-era elegance without feeling like a museum – you know how some Prague hotels try too hard with the historical thing? This place strikes the right balance. The lobby smells like leather and good wood polish, not artificial vanilla like so many chain places. What really impressed me was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days. The rooms have proper blackout curtains (crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag), and the bathrooms have heated floors, which sounds fancy but is genuinely appreciated when you’re padding around at 6 AM in November. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood – I asked about a good wine bar that wasn’t touristy, and the concierge sent me to this tiny place on Templova that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Here’s what sets it apart from other five-star spots in Prague: it doesn’t feel like it’s performing luxury for you. The service is polished but not stiff, and honestly, the 9.4 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a few days. You’re a three-minute walk from the Powder Tower, but more importantly, you’re close to actual Prague life – there’s a fantastic produce market on Havelska that the hotel genuinely recommends (not just the obvious tourist spots). The soundproofing is excellent too, which matters because even the quiet streets in Old Town can get lively on weekend nights. I stayed during Prague Spring festival season, and while the area was buzzing with activity, I could barely hear it from my room. Parking is handled through a nearby garage – not cheap, but they coordinate it for you, which saves the headache of navigating those narrow medieval streets with a rental car. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentically Prague without sacrificing modern comfort, this is it.

Room was very comfortable and had many amenities including a straight iron. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful considering it was our first trip to Prague. Location was great for shopping as it was directly across the street. The old town was a little bit of a walk however it felt safe and the route was beautiful. Would definitely stay at Kings Court in the future.
