Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked up to Hotel King George on Liliová street, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the entrance is pretty understated, tucked between some other historical buildings in a way that made me double-check the address. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. This isn’t one of those flashy hotels trying too hard to impress; it’s more like discovering a well-kept secret that locals probably walk past every day without giving it much thought.

The location is what really sold me on this place. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock (though honestly, skip it during peak tourist hours unless you enjoy being sardined with selfie sticks). What’s better is that you can actually walk to Charles Bridge early in the morning before the crowds hit – and trust me, 7 AM on that bridge feels like you’ve got Prague to yourself. The staff mentioned that Wenceslas Square is about ten minutes on foot, which turned out to be spot-on timing. There’s this little café around the corner on Národní street that serves incredible trdelník, and the hotel folks actually knew about it when I asked for breakfast recommendations that weren’t tourist traps.

What surprised me most was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the thick of Old Town. The rooms facing the courtyard are practically silent – well, except for the occasional late-night conversation drifting up from the street, but it’s more charming than disruptive. The 3-star rating might make you think it’s basic, but the 8.2 guest score makes sense once you’re there. It’s not luxury by any stretch, but everything works properly (the wifi actually works, the shower has decent pressure, the heating responds when you adjust it), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I stayed in October when Prague gets chilly, and the room stayed cozy without being stuffy. The breakfast setup is simple but solid – fresh bread, local cheeses, decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since morning. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done before you head out exploring. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, no upselling or complicated explanations about amenities they don’t actually have.

It was fine – room big, easy access to place at any time in middle of town

What could be improved: WiFi was terrible.
Very noisy at night, all through the night, with people shouting on their way home from a night out. I have to sleep with open window due to allergies.

  • Superb – Mark from United Kingdom – 31 May 2025 (9/10)

Location was perfect. Greeted well upon arrival. 14 foot ceilings in room. Room was large with a small fridge for water / beer!
Best to stay here as a base only.

What could be improved: Decor is a little dated, but it didn't put me off. If this hotel spent a little money on better furniture for the rooms and improved the decor it would be incredible to stay there.

Excellent location with large room and comfy beds. Nice view of courtyard and the welcome hospitality was excellent

What could be improved: There should be some simple coffe facility for guests in the room or reception as there are no early open cafes. Morning coffee is essential.
