Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Prague, and Hotel Julian honestly surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Elišky Peškové street in Smíchov – you know, that area across the river that most tourists completely miss but locals actually love because it’s real Prague without all the crowd chaos. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cared about creating a space that feels warm rather than just impressive. The lobby has this understated elegance thing going on, sort of like staying at a well-traveled friend’s beautifully renovated apartment rather than some corporate chain.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know Prague, not just the tourist highlights everyone pushes. When I mentioned wanting good coffee that wasn’t tourist-priced, the front desk guy – without missing a beat – directed me to this little place two blocks away where I ended up going every morning. The rooms themselves are genuinely comfortable (I mean, the bed was actually good, not just hotel-passable), and here’s something you don’t often get – real quiet at night. Being slightly off the main tourist trail means you’re not dealing with drunk groups stumbling back from Old Town at 2 AM. The neighborhood has this lovely residential vibe where you’ll see people walking their dogs and heading to the local market, which honestly made me feel more connected to the city than if I’d been staying right in the thick of things.

I’ll be honest, the location initially worried me because it’s not walking distance to the major sights, but that turned out to be a complete non-issue. The tram stop is literally around the corner, and you’re in the city center in maybe ten minutes – plus you get to see actual Prague neighborhoods on the way instead of just hopping between tourist bubbles. There’s also decent parking if you’re driving, which is basically a miracle in this city. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’re there because it’s one of those places that gets all the fundamentals right without trying to wow you with unnecessary flourishes. You know what I mean? Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just… work really well. Hotel Julian is definitely one of those gems that makes you feel like you discovered something special, even though plenty of smart travelers clearly already have.

  The rooms were very neat and big. I liked the connecting door between the bedroom and closet area. It gave me security and privacy.
  
  The receptionists, Marcela and Oxana were very nice and kind. Marcela ordered a taxi for me to the airport with her personal account so I paid less. Very sweet of her. Great buffet breakfast.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing was the bedroom room was dimly lit.

  What could be improved: Room was missing something. It felt like empty hospital room with white cold walls. Bad with pillows was excellent, but from opinion of interrier, there was an error in the room.

  Walking into the hotel feels like stepping back in time. The hotel maintains old world charm with the library and the fireplace. Elegant interior,high ceilings, lovely staircase, chandeliers. Excellent reception desk and excellent breakfast!
  Close to the lovely park, short lovely walk to Charles Bridge and National Opera House.

  The room was perfect and what we asked for, plenty of space and cleanliness was at a great standard. The breakfast buffet that was included had a great range of food on offer and filled both myself and my partner for the day. The staff were amazing on the desk and were always friendly when entering or leaving the hotel and were always happy to help with any questions. The location is perfect for someone who wants to stay just out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the city but still get that feeling you are in the city. Its very close to everywhere you want to go with the average walk time being around 30 minutes which is perfect for wanting to explore the area. The atmosphere in the foyer of the hotel was calm which was perfect to sit and enjoy after the day before heading out to one of the many restaurants a short walk away.
