I stayed on the fourth floor facing the courtyard, and honestly, it was blissfully quiet – which is saying something since you’re literally a five-minute walk from Old Town Square. The bed was one of those memory foam situations that I actually didn’t hate (usually I’m pretty picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had this rainfall shower that felt like a small luxury after long days of walking on cobblestones.

Here’s the thing about the location that makes it special – you’re on this little street that feels residential and calm, but you can walk to Wenceslas Square in maybe eight minutes, and the Jewish Quarter is practically next door. I loved that I could grab morning coffee at the little place downstairs, then wander over to the Astronomical Clock without dealing with any tourist trap areas until I was actually ready for them. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel, you know? Real Praguers doing their grocery shopping and walking their dogs, mixed with just enough visitors to keep things interesting. Parking was actually manageable too – they have a partnership with a garage about two blocks away, which saved me from circling around those narrow medieval streets looking for a spot. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental (though honestly, most Prague hotels struggle with this), and if you’re on the street side, you might hear some early morning delivery trucks. But seriously, for a 4-star place with a 9.1 rating, Hotel Josef delivers on that promise. It’s got that rare combination of modern comfort and authentic Prague character that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just passing through it.
