Hotel Hastal Prague Old Town Overview
You know what really struck me about Hotel Hastal? It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street that most tourists rush past on their way to Old Town Square, but that’s actually what makes it perfect. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock and all that chaos, but when you duck into Hastalska street, it feels like you’ve found this quiet pocket that somehow escaped the crowds.
The building itself is one of those gorgeous medieval townhouses that Prague does so well – honestly, from the outside you’d never guess it’s a hotel. Check-in was refreshingly normal (no weird upselling or confusing key card explanations), and the lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully renovated – they kept the character with those thick walls and interesting ceiling details, but everything actually works properly. The shower pressure is solid, which… let’s be real, that’s not always a given in these historic buildings. I stayed on the third floor and it was surprisingly quiet at night, even though you’re right in the heart of everything.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know Prague, not just the tourist handbook version. When I asked about good places for dinner, they pointed me toward Lokál on Dlouhá street instead of some overpriced tourist trap – and they were absolutely right. The breakfast setup is solid too, nothing fancy but proper coffee and local pastries that actually taste like something. Location-wise, you’re positioned perfectly for exploring on foot. Wenceslas Square is maybe a seven-minute walk, and you can easily wander over to the Jewish Quarter or head toward the river without dealing with trams or taxis. The narrow streets around the hotel are part of that maze-like Old Town experience, but honestly, getting a little lost in those alleys is half the fun. Just keep in mind that if you’re arriving by car, you’ll need to sort out parking elsewhere – this isn’t the kind of neighborhood where you can just pull up to the front door. But really, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. The whole area is incredibly walkable, and there’s something magical about stepping out of your hotel onto authentic medieval streets instead of some modern boulevard lined with chain stores.

A lovely hotel in a great area close to old town square and various river bridges.Breakfast included and enough choice for our needs.sraff were friendly and helpfull and although quite small room was nice and cosy. Nice patio area at rear of hotel where we enjoyed a glass of wine or a coffee in the sunshine after a long day visiting the sites.Wouldn't hesitate to choose this hotel again.
