Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Prague over the years, and Hotel Garden Court honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. When you first walk up to number 17 on Spálená Street, it doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of those flashy hotels near Old Town Square. Instead, it’s got this understated elegance that feels very Prague, you know? The building itself has that classic Central European charm, and once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between being polished and feeling authentic. The rooms – well, mine faced the courtyard and it was surprisingly quiet considering you’re literally in the heart of New Town. I mean, Spálená can get busy during the day since it connects to all the main shopping areas, but once evening hits, it settles down nicely. The staff actually knew things about the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to Petřin Hill (because honestly, the castle views from up there beat the crowded ones from Charles Bridge), the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the tourist tram – he told me about the walking path that starts just five minutes away near the Hunger Wall ruins.

Here’s what I really appreciated: they’ve kept things genuine without trying to be trendy. The breakfast room overlooks this little internal garden space (hence the name, I guess), and there’s something really pleasant about starting your morning there instead of in some generic hotel dining hall. You’re close enough to walk to Wenceslas Square in about eight minutes, but far enough from the absolute chaos of the tourist center that you can actually think straight. Plus – and this matters if you’re planning to explore beyond the obvious stuff – you’re walking distance from some of Prague’s better local spots. There’s this little wine bar called Bokovka just around the corner that most guidebooks miss completely, and the whole Národní Street area has been getting really interesting lately with new galleries and cafés that aren’t just tourist traps. The 8.7 rating makes sense when you stay here; it’s one of those places that delivers exactly what it promises without any weird surprises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re trying to actually experience a city instead of just checking boxes off a list.
