Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Esprit? It’s tucked right into this narrow cobblestone street that feels like you’ve stepped back about 300 years – but then you walk inside and it’s this surprisingly sleek space that somehow doesn’t feel jarring. The location on Rybná is honestly perfect if you actually want to experience Prague beyond the tourist bubble. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Powder Tower, but you’re also surrounded by these little wine bars and traditional pubs that most visitors never find because they’re too busy taking selfies on Charles Bridge.

The rooms have this understated thing going on – clean lines, decent space (which matters in Prague where some hotels feel like shoe boxes), and windows that actually open, thank god. I stayed during a warm September and being able to get some air circulation made all the difference. The bathrooms are properly updated too, not like some places in the Old Town where you feel like you’re showering in a medieval dungeon. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being in the city center – Rybná isn’t a main thoroughfare, so you don’t get the constant tram noise that can drive you crazy in other parts of Prague. The staff actually knows the neighborhood well too. When I asked about finding a good goulash spot that wasn’t a tourist trap, the front desk guy sent me to this place around the corner on Dlouhá that turned out to be where locals go for lunch.

Honestly, the 8.2 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but it gets the important stuff right. The WiFi works everywhere (crucial if you’re working remotely), breakfast is solid without being fancy, and check-in was smooth even when I arrived early after an overnight flight. The building itself has some character – you can tell it’s old Prague architecture that’s been thoughtfully updated rather than gutted and rebuilt. Small thing, but I loved that they have actual keys instead of those plastic cards that stop working if you look at them wrong. If you’re the type who wants to be walking distance from the Jewish Quarter, Wenceslas Square, and the river, but also wants to duck into a proper Czech beer hall without fighting through crowds of tour groups, this spot kind of nails that balance.

    Location

  • Mehmet from Turkey – 10 May 2024 (8/10)

Perfect location, very helpful staff, just near to the restaurant..

What could be improved: Little bit old furnitures, need some restoration..
Ex: in our room there was no electric plug near the bed..

  • Zuzana from Slovakia – 13 January 2025 (8/10)

We really enjoyed how friendly the staff was. The location of the hotel is just perfect, in the pedestrian zone of the very historical centre of Prague. Despite this location, the room was very quiet. We also took advantage of the restaurant situated in the same building, I recommend traditional dishes from the Czech cuisine.

What could be improved: The bed mattress was somehow hard for me.

  • Brunilda from Ireland – 7 January 2025 (8/10)

    Clean room great location

What could be improved: Very unhelpful

  • Juhofin from Finland – 5 January 2025 (7/10)

The hotel is ideally located for an everyday tourist as it sits right on the edge of the Old Town with most of the top sightseeing locations within a short walking distance (in European terms). Hotel breakfast was surprisingly good offering healthier options along with the usual sausages and omelets. You got salad, fruits, etc. The other dinner restaurant located in the same building was also a positive experience. A small one, but the food was good. We enjoyed the best waffles of our stay in this restaurant. The staff tried to be as helpful as they could.

What could be improved: The soundproofing in the windows, walls and doors is almost non-existent and all the noises e.g. from the streets, hallway at nighttime easily carry inside, regardless of the floor you live on. The shower in the bathroom was comprised of a bathtub with a handheld showerhead. It was difficult to enjoy a normal shower experience.
Also on one unlucky evening there was a complete loss of warm water which lasted the entire evening and made showering more of a challenge. We never got to know the reason for this. Our room did not have a king-size bed but rather two smaller ones set next to each other. As a romantic couple this affected our nights a teeny weeny bit.

Good location , breakfast just ok . The receptionists not that friendly, not helpful ( the gentleman not onset
