Hotel Czechia

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Myslikova 26, Prague, 12000, Czech Republic

Overview

You know what? Hotel Czechia surprised me. I’ll be honest – walking up to this 3-star place on Myslikova, I wasn’t expecting much. The building’s got that solid, no-nonsense Prague look, but once you’re inside, it’s actually quite charming in an understated way. The lobby smells faintly of old wood and coffee, which somehow works perfectly with the traditional Czech décor they’ve got going on.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize – Myslikova 26 puts you right in New Town, but it’s tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of Wenceslas Square every time you step outside. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the National Theatre (I timed it), and there’s this fantastic little pivnice called U Fleku just around the corner where locals actually drink. The tram stop at Národní třída is maybe two blocks away, so getting around is dead simple. Plus – and this matters if you’re driving – there’s actually parking available, which in Prague is basically winning the lottery.

The rooms are… well, they’re honest 3-star rooms. Clean, comfortable beds, decent-sized windows that actually open (thank god, because some of these older buildings can get stuffy). The bathrooms are small but functional, and the water pressure is surprisingly good for this part of the city. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Myslikova isn’t one of those streets where drunk tourists stumble around at 2 AM singing folk songs. The staff speaks solid English, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No upselling, no weird hidden fees, just “here’s your key, breakfast is from 7 to 10.”

Speaking of breakfast – it’s nothing fancy, but they do proper Czech pastries and the coffee is actually drinkable, which puts them ahead of half the hotels in this price range. I’d sit by the window watching people head to work while planning my day, and honestly, that felt more authentic than being surrounded by tour groups at some massive chain hotel.

Look, Hotel Czechia isn’t going to wow you with luxury amenities or Instagram-worthy rooftop bars. But if you want a solid, reliable base for exploring Prague without paying tourist-trap prices, this place delivers. The 7.5 rating makes sense – it’s good at what it does without trying to be something it’s not. I stayed here in late September when the weather was perfect for walking, and I’d definitely book it again. Sometimes you just want a comfortable bed, a hot shower, and easy access to the city, and that’s exactly what you get here.

Great location, a comfortable old hotel.

Comfortable, if dated room. The bed is two separate mattresses with separate sheets which meant there was occasionally a divot in the bed, but this didn’t particularly bother us. Despite the heat outside the room remained cool without air conditioning. We found the fan effective. The location is excellent, easy to get the tram & easy to get around town on foot. We enjoyed the included breakfast.

What could be improved: We were on the top floor so the stairs were challenging! Completely understandable in an old building, but worth noting if you have mobility issues/can’t carry a heavy suitcase upstairs.

All good

Good combination of what you get for money. Clean room, hotel is in the middle of the centrum and you get breakfast too! I would recommend it!

What could be improved: It was a bit warm ( no air conditioning in the room), it had a small fen but it made a lot of noise so we needed to shut it off. Other rooms had portable air conditions. But this is not making any difference because I would choose this hotel again.

Very good

It is not far from the center and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also nice.

What could be improved: Our room was at the 3rd floor and there is no elevator.
