Hotel City Bell Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel City Bell on Belgická street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions bite you in the ass, because this little spot actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The thing about staying here is the location – and I don’t mean that in the typical “convenient location” BS way that every hotel claims. I mean you’re genuinely in this sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in an actual Prague neighborhood rather than tourist central. Belgická runs through Vinohrady, which honestly feels more like where real people live and work. There’s this fantastic bakery about two blocks down that locals queue up at every morning (I may have become slightly obsessed with their koláče), and the Náměstí Míru metro station is close enough that you’re not dragging your luggage forever, but far enough that you’re not hearing trains at 6 AM. The walk to the main tourist areas takes maybe 15-20 minutes, or you can hop on the A line and be at Wenceslas Square in literally three stops.
What really got me about this place was how the staff actually seemed to give a damn. Check-in was smooth – no weird hidden fees or surprise “tourist tax” drama that you sometimes get hit with. The rooms are… well, they’re not going to win any design awards, but they’re properly clean and the beds are actually comfortable. I mean, I’ve stayed in supposedly fancier places where the mattress felt like sleeping on cardboard, so that matters. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with decent water pressure (crucial after walking around Prague’s cobblestones all day). One small thing that annoyed me – the walls are a bit thin, so if you get stuck next to party people, you’ll know about it. But most guests seemed to be other travelers like me who were more interested in exploring the city than throwing room parties.
The breakfast situation is pretty solid too – nothing fancy, but proper coffee, fresh bread, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying several days. They’ve got this little courtyard area that’s actually peaceful in the mornings, which was perfect when I needed to plan my day without the usual hotel lobby chaos. And here’s something I appreciated – they had solid recommendations for restaurants that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. The receptionist pointed me toward this incredible wine bar called Bokovka that I never would’ve found otherwise.
Honestly, for what you’re paying and that 8.3 rating, Hotel City Bell delivers exactly what it promises. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which I find refreshing. You’re getting a clean, comfortable base in a genuinely nice part of Prague, with people who know the city and can point you in the right direction. If you’re the type who needs a spa and room service, look elsewhere. But if you want a solid place to sleep and shower between actually experiencing Prague, this works really well.
Early hotels booking in Prague is essential during major events like the Prague Spring Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned classical music scene and Gothic architecture.

Reviews of Hotel City Bell
Superb – Lauriane from United Kingdom – 21 July 2025 (9/10)
Good sized corner room with large windows overlooking Prague and great location.
Family weekend break – Patryk from Poland – 2 June 2025 (9/10)
Location close to old town (20 min walk) and public transport (Namesti Miru)
Friendly and helpful staff – quick and efficient email and phone communication upfront to clarify some topics, very helpful after arrival
Elevator available (we have 2 kids on wheelchairs and this was important)
Spacious family room (apartment)
Closed hotel parking available 50 meters away (paid) – could be a challenge for minivans due to gate size, but we managed with Skoda Superb without bigger problems (I recommend to use it – there is practically no chance to park your car on the nearby streets as all spaces are reserved for the locals)
Decent breakfast
Plenty of cafes and a good Mexican restaurant/bar next to the hotel
