Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Caruso Old Town? It’s tucked away on U Milosrdných street in a way that feels intentional – like someone actually thought about where to put a hotel instead of just grabbing whatever corner was available. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Old Town Square, but the street itself is quiet enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling back at 2 AM (trust me, this matters in Prague). The building has that solid, slightly weathered look that screams “I’ve been here longer than your great-grandmother,” which honestly makes it feel more authentic than those shiny chain places that could be anywhere in Europe.
The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully renovated – they kept the character stuff like high ceilings and original hardwood floors, but actually updated the bathrooms so you don’t feel like you’re roughing it. The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just acceptable, and the windows are thick enough to block out the sound of delivery trucks in the morning. What really got me though was how the staff seemed to know Prague beyond just the tourist basics. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the desk clerk didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he explained which tram to take and mentioned this little wine bar I never would’ve found otherwise. That kind of local insight is worth way more than fancy lobby marble, if you ask me.
Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture – you’re close enough to walk to Prague Castle without breaking a sweat, but you’re also on the edge of where actual Czechs live and work. The little grocery store around the corner stays open late, there’s a proper Czech pub (not a tourist trap) literally next door, and you can walk to the Jewish Quarter in about five minutes. Parking is sort of a nightmare, like everywhere in Old Town, but they’ll help you figure it out. I stayed here in September when the crowds were still thick, and it felt like having a quiet base camp in the middle of all the action. The 8.9 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Prague, but it gets the important stuff right and doesn’t nickel-and-dime you for basic services. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the whole place just smells right – like old wood and coffee instead of generic hotel air freshener.

Walking distance to everything in Old Town, in the middle of the Jewish quarter. Room was small but comfortable with good light and good housekeeping service
What could be improved: The hotel bar was not in service during my stay.Moti from Israel – 27 February 2025 (9/10)
Excellent Stay – Exceptional Service from Bahruz!
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel in Prague! Everything was clean, comfortable, and well-organized. A special thanks to Bahruz, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. His professionalism, kindness, and attentive service made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be back!Altaf from Germany – 23 February 2025 (9/10)
Our stay at Hotel Caruso was an absolute pleasure. Adorned with the very many original paintings and art works, the hotel stands true to the definition of a "boutique" hotel. The location of the hotel is great with respect to proximity to tram/ bus stops and the Old Town Square is also at a walking distance. The hotel stands strong on DEI as well, with all important signs/ room numbers in Braille as well. The Reception Staff (Day (Bahruz)/ Evening (A Lady) /Night Managers (Umang)) were all very courteous and helpful. When the kitchen was closed, the Evening Manager even prepared a cup of coffee and brought it upstairs to our room. We particularly liked the Gentleman and the Lady managing the guests for the Breakfast Buffets, hosting with much warmth and serving with a smile. Would recommend a stay here!
Deniz from Germany – 1 January 2025 (9/10)
The location was very good. The receiption was helpful and welcoming. Even though we arrived 1 hour early due to our trip schedule, they were able to help us with a room. The room they gave was not ready but they were able to arrange another one immediately. The breakfast was also good and nourishing.
What could be improved: There was nothing in the minibar, even a bottle of water, even though we would have paid for it. Then there was not a lot of possibilities to have fresh air in the room. The air conditioner in the toilet was not working very well.Laura from Spain – 13 December 2024 (9/10)
Three friends stayed in the room, and the space was perfect. Each of us had our own bed and enough room for our belongings. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom was always impeccable.
The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options to choose from.
The staff was very kind, welcoming us warmly and giving us great recommendations.
I highly recommend it and will definitely come back!
What could be improved: No complaints!Baker from United Kingdom – 5 December 2024 (9/10)
Hotel reception were very knowledgeable and always smiling. Give us some good tips for restaurants to visit and booked us on a lovely evening river cruise. The hotel was very clean. The rooms were spacious, and the hotel was situated in a quiet area of Prague, but within walking distance of the old square. Would highly recommend this hotel.
What could be improved: The only thing was the breakfast area was very small.
